According to a report on Codesport we're about to open up $2.2-2.4 million from just moving on Martin & Bolton. Add in the money we're saving from not paying Baker plus Graham & Rioli also moving on and we're going to have close to a quarter of the cap available to spend. You'd almost be willing to go to the likes of Fremantle Gold Coast & Suns and say we'll pay the salaries of Baker Bolton & Rioli to 'buy' their best picks.
And thats most likely what will happen

#6 + #12 we pay 75% Rioli salary for 2 years while they get over the Luko hump , Hell we could even take Luko off them if they like.

#10 +#11 + #16 for Bolton and we can pay $700k x 3 years to help freo's cap and allow them enough room to bid for Warner next year

Lynch + #16 for pick #5 and we pay 75% of Tom Lynch contract for next year

#1 , #5 , #6 , #9 , #10 , #12 , #14 , #21 , #22 - Complete Rebuild in just 2 years with 4 picks in 2025

Extend Balta & start front loading.
Nah let him leave as a free agent

He will get crazy offers from teams like North & West Coast 7 years $12 mil range as a free hit and these clubs will have cap space .

We are 5 years away before even contending and balta will be 30+ and getting injuries
take the pick #2 Compo and take ludowyke as our 13 year foward along with Dyson Sharp

have to think 5 year onwards

What chances a Jack MacRae (signed on $$ to 2027) salary dump trade? Also didn’t know he’s 191cm

could we have a swing in talking to Matthew Kennedy from the blues
was pushed aside from the team last night and would be bitter with the treatment
27 years old and could come in ready to go, likes to tackle and ave 17 disposals.

Just saying that we’ve got suggestions that we pick up Shai & Daniel’s first year (all up say $1.8m) for a couple of extra late firsts.
If the Dogs sent the Bailey Smith pick & MacRae to us for nicks, it’s a similar concept.

Taking these guys is a very good way to continue to finish 9th
Apart from Smith which i would jump at with a pick #15-#20

sanfl - tigers just won there second final
and the big guy Liam Mcbean just bagged another 4.
could we possibly :praying: ???

The system kinds of rewards us to let him leave and then use the cash to sign a free agent the following year.

It's a rort, in theory it should be a positive because a side at the bottom losing a top player will get overs that will help them, but if it were a team that just had a bad year and finished bottom 4, you will get unfairly over compensated.

He’s 25

And is about our most important signing

He's right though. The system suggests we should let him go for pick 2 and then sign an equivalent FA next year and we've just plucked pick 2 out of our ass.

There should be incentive to match.

If you're into AFL is corrupt conspiracy theories, then expect them to remove compensation as soon as it appears that we're about to do that exact thing.

They should scrap it but only after we rort it 😁

I'd put it to Freo & Gold Coast that we'll pay the 1st year of their contracts to allow both clubs to make adjustments to their salary caps, but doing so they must hand over the extra value in the trade. We can throw back some of our picks outside the first 2 rounds to balance the deals out a bit, but lets get aggressive with our approach to the trade period and really give the media something to whinge about when it comes to us working the system to our advantage.
That would help us avoid overpaying anyone to get to 95%. do it just for next yr. We'll also do some deals for pts with the "handshake" agreement that we won't do any bidding at the draft. Let's the meltdowns begin.

We have to do this to make sure our cap runs well for the next few years. Don't want to overpay for young untried kids because we have to hit 95% of the cap space
I'd like to see that rule scrapped, if we only pay 92% next yr big deal, it allows us to go shopping via FA when the time is right.

What? No Doozy's?

This IMO is why we need to master things like the stand rule, as soon as we do that they'll strap it to a rocket & fire it into the sun. Sooner the better! Watch the new draft rules for next yr to include changes to stop us loading up with picks again.
