6 & 20 for Rioli is extraordinary. 9 & 10 for Bolton is extraordinary.
It's not though. Gold Coast won't even get to use 12 because someone will bid on Lombard before then. It's accepted that 6 will come to RFC for Rioli and Lombard gets bid on before then, so it's pointless having it. May as well give it to us and get us to pay some salary and maybe ask for later picks just for points to match any bids.

9&10 for Bolton is not extraordinary. WCE would pay 3 and 23 for him in a heart-beat (that's 3000ish points) and 9 and 10 (which is really 10 and 11), is about 2500-2600 points). They aren't going to lose him to another bidder. It's not what a player is worth on the field, it's what someone else is prepared to pay for him...

Rather not become the new Essendon, tbh. Insufferable. Get fair value.
We don't need to become the new Essendon, but we don't have to be easy beats off the field after being easy beats on it this year.

then gcs should just say they'll keep 6 so they have a pick before lombard and offer us 13 & 20 (2 "first rounders") and say tough luck he's contracted & wants to move so accept it or you keep him

It's up to them to get it done. They've courted him. Dimma is in charge and couldn't care less about pick 6. He needs the club to make finals in 2025, not 2029.

Pointless having a mid 1st round draft pick? They could trade it for a player, they could trade up with it, they could trade it for a future pick, they could trade it for later picks. You don't just gift 1st round picks for the hell of it.

Sheepishly asked for at best

i think we should try and get 12 from Gold Coast.

I know the Pies want it for Noble but that is madness for value.

We should be able to get later picks to Gold Coast for pick 12 and they still get their academy pick with more options .

Brisbane and Gold Coast are getting a heap of academy picks coming through in the next year or two
NO we get #7 for Rioli and we get #13 for his salary
3 years at $500k = pick #13

Seriously? We will keep him for certain if they go down that path. Remember, they’ve pursued him, they have to follow through

They would be trading it - for Rioli, a chunk of his salary and for later picks potentially and a hidden assurance that won't bid on Lombard with our picks before say 10. Hardly a gift.

i was referring to you wanting 6&13 for rioli. gcs should fold if they give that

6 on it's own is great for us
Thank goodness it's not you trading then. He's contracted for 4 years. If they want him, they'll pay picks. 13 is to get us to pay some of his salary since they are paying Mac Andrew for the next decade...
