As long as we don't recruit as bad as Norf. Their later picks leave a lot to be desired as do the mature players they draft. Zac Fisher, Dylan Stephens. Wtf are they doing?
Taking the only blokes who'll come to them. Polec, Pittarded. Players with a choice don't choose Norf.

Michael Turner coach of Geelong Falcons was always bemused with Richmond’s recruiting program. aGeelong Dynasty was built on players from Geelong Falcons but he never got any enquiries about up and coming players from Richmond ! How important- what level of money is required to recruit the best talent for Richmond’s Recruitment Team ?
Michael turner was a flog

He was never the coach

We're four years behind the Hawks story arc. They over-achieved a few years after their dynasty in 2018 by finishing in the top 4 and going out in straight sets - many believe we also over-achieved beyond our dynasty in 2022 by making finals.

The Hawks then brought in Chad Wingard and Tom Scully as top ups, as well as trading in other older players like Frost, Patton, Hartigan, Impey, O'Meara across a 2-3 year period around that time.

We've brought in TT and Hopper. Naismith and Tarrant were free hits, and never considered long term investments. Kosi a mistake.

I think we've actually clued onto the system well in advance of the Hawks - maybe even using theirs as a model. The four years of 2020-2023 they finished 15th, 14th, 13th and 16th respectively. We had a better squad in 2024 than they had in 2020 - in no way did they suffer the same injury toll that plagued Richmond in 2024, so 18th is not a true reflection of our squad's standing. 2024 was ridiculous from an injury pov.

There's nothing to prevent us from thinking we couldn't get it right quicker than their four years. Admittedly it's a biggie, but of the blokes we're losing, only the loss of Shai Bolton will be the one that we'll really feel in 3-4 years. And we're set for a much more lucrative draft haul that they were ever able to access, not even counting our 2021 batch.
I reckon we're at where hawks were end of 2022 , but we are going to get much better picks than they did plus our list with players on the park is much better than their 2022 list

2010 remains one of my favourite seasons
Jack kick 10 against the Eagles
Andy Collins heroics against a big comeback against Sydney
Ben cousins last game ( Grimes 1st)
Almost massive comeback against Port
Dimma first win against Port in Adelaide
They were some great times
And also on Ben's last game about half way through the last quarter we HIRD the news knighta was sacked at essendon and that shit club has never ever recovered
****ing karma for sacking a Richmond legend 😤

One of my favourite things about Hawthorn killing it at present is that it’s not Essendon.

If they next win a final in 30 years it will be too soon and if and when they do I want them buried by 20 goals the next week, thus commencing another 49 year drought

mcg was absolutely rocking with noise with the sydney game - great memory that game
Dimma's first win in adel vs power (also B.Griffiths first game) rained hardcore like you could not believe, place was soaked.
We busted up some pt.adel celebration day with that win - Cornes has hated us since

also Cousins farewell game..always remember Troy Taylor was just finding his feet and believing he would go on to have a special career with us... how wrong i was
kid had the untapped talent just not the dedication.

Will be a fascinating year for Yze.
Expect we’ll be the consensus spoon pick & while that may make judgement a little hard, it shouldn’t excuse scrutiny, especially if our medical room doesn’t look like a surgeon’s tent on the Somme
As long as we start to see some semblance of a viable game plan that will stack up long term, the wins and losses won’t matter as much.

I happened to be there that day.
The crowd was about 5k strong. Many commentators predicted we wouldn’t win a game all year. The few Port supporters that were there were absolutely magnanimous. I remember a fair bit of love for Damien Hardwick and regret they’d picked Ken Hinkley over him.
Very prophetic in hindsight.
