Interesting. So Naismith is main list?

Coulthard frees up 1 spot. Campbell deserves main list, he's comfortably best 22. Would like to cull 1 more and use pick 1 PSD.

We have so much average youth that are hard to cut but we are last so need to rejuvenate lol
Double checked and Young is definitely on there, so 8 rookies currently:

Bauer, Campbell, Young, Coulthard, Trezise, Lefau, Blight, Gray

So yeah as you say, Coulthard will be delisted, and it means we'll have to elevate one other to keep Blight and Gray, so that'll be another senior list spot required.

Naismith was a delisted FA, so senior list.

Right now assuming Grimes retires with Dusty, I'm also cutting Naismith, Coulthard, Cumberland and Dow. Let's assume all of Bolton, Baker, Graham and Rioli leave, with Blight and Gray already added we'd be left with 8 list spots to fill at the draft.

10 gone but 8 list spots? We'd potentially have 14 or 15 picks if those 4 go. Fascinating to see how we manage that side of things. Might need to do a small trade up with Brisbane for 55 and another trade up with Essendon for 30 pre-draft.

Yep 10 out, 8 in because we've already taken Blight and Gray.

I reckon we get Brisbane's pick and then sell off what's left for futures.

Either that or cut deeper and take out blokes like Pickett and McIntosh too.

I think this would be a bad idea we will need the experience. At least 1 of them will stay possibly both.

It won't be easy to turn 6 or 7 picks into 1 pick though. Someone has to carry those extra picks to draft night. Brissy being a contender won't want that many list spots.

We also have PSD pick 1 to try use to get a bargain trade for a young player not getting a crack from a Sydney, Brisbane, GWS, Carlton. Konstanty the obvious one who has been mentioned and we need forwards.

The APS School team of the year is out ( can’t copy unfortunately)
Some notable performances from
Armstrong- 10 goal game (33 goals)
Ivisic- the most prolific ball winner at this level including a 47 possession game ( had some big numbers for VIC Country). His elite running capacity highlighted.
And
O’Farrell who unfortunately didn’t play any games in the NC, but a very talented kpp

OUR APS TEAM OF THE YEAR

Let's say hypothetically (and perhaps optimistically) …

We get 6 and 20 for Rioli, 7,12 and 16 for Bolton and Baker and 22 as compo for Graham.

We'd then have 1, 6, 7, 12, 16, 20, 21, 22, 33, 39, 41, 51, 57, 64 and 72.

33, 39 and 41 should get us Brisbane's 17, as its a 396 point surplus for them + a guarantee we don't bid on Ashcroft at 1, which is worth another 483 points.

72 is pretty much worthless, which would leave us with 51, 57 and 64 to sell off. Essendon currently don't have enough points to cover a Kako bid, so they'd possibly take all three for a future pick or pick upgrade, or we could sell them individually for late future picks.

We'd then be left with 8 picks to take to the draft — 1, 6, 7, 12, 16, 20, 21 and 22.

21 and 22 being the first two picks of night two often net clubs future first rounders in live trades. We could possibly offload them to spread our draft load and take 1-2 rookie picks instead. Could also look to combine a couple of first rounders to move up the board if there's someone we like.

It's bold, but its all doable imo.

Its the right move though. If we take 6 in the first round, we could, as you said trade the next two into next years draft and keep two spots open for SSP

We are all hopeful that the club strikes now but I have the horrible feeling they won’t.

Have to be 10 + getting drafted from that team

Great thinking and good post Fargo but I dont think Rioli or Baker leave which only leaves what we get for Bolton.

Don’t think we cut Pickett till he’s played 100 games. Has sons😉

If we trade/FA all 4 guys plus Dusty and Grimes retirement, how many list spots/draft picks are we expecting in each draft?

I struggle to work out who is a rookie lol. _RT_ help?

Prestia ✅
Trezise ✅
Smith ✅
McIntosh ❔
Pickett ❔
Colina ❌
Coulthard ❌
Rioli ✅
Lefau ✅
Cumberland ❌
Naismith ❌
Campbell ✅
Green ✅️ (thought this bloke was a ❌️ a month ago)
Dow ❔
Blight ✅️ (takes Naismith spot on list)
Gray ✅️ (takes Coulthard spot on list)
Rookies:

Coulthard
Trezise
Colina ( Cat B)
Lefau
Bauer
Campbell
Young
Hayes-Brown (Cat B)
Blight
Gray

Need to delist and/or elevate 2 rookies to keep 6 rookies.

If we lose Baker Bolton Graham Rioli to go with Martin Grimes & Naismith retirements we'd have 7 picks, which means we may well re-sign all of Cumberland Dow McIntosh & Pickett for 1 year as depth.

it will all depend on what baker, bolton and rioli do. if we can get 2 picks in the 5 -10 range (plus other picks) for bolton and rioli, we could offer west coast Baker and say pick 8 for pick 3. They get Baker and still have a top 10 pick to get a quality player.
Yep.Basically giving Baker away for nothing to move up 3 spots but gives us access too a Combo of 2 Jagga/Fos/Langford/Lalor.
Hopefully the WA local Bo Allen has a strong finish to the year.
Heaps to play out.
Who knows what North will do.

Cooper Hynes continues to strengthen as a top 20 draft candidate. He started the season extremely raw as a midfielder, but his stoppage craft has come a long way since then and he's now capable of some really clean and damaging extractions either by hand or with a bust of speed through traffic. In recent weeks there have been many moments where he's shown how team oriented and unselfish he is, as demonstrated in this game where when presented with a chance to pad his stat sheet with fourth goal he instead handed the ball off to a teammate in the goal square.

Should cut Young. He was hopeless before he did his knee and with a 12mth rehab followed by 12mths to get back to his best its too long for an average player at best.

I may be the minority but I’m not seeing the hype around FOS. The game this weekend will give some good insight.

R = Rookie. Believe you can be a rookie for 3 years until you need to be promoted? IDK how that works with mid-season draftees though. Is half a season considered year 1 or year 0?

Think they changed it last week to 5.
