There`s a fellow called Shane Savage at Hawthorn, he would be worth investigating. Great hands and kick and very underrated, would be a sensational small forward for us. Emergency for the Hawks big one today and would not be happy. Don`t know his contract situation but must be sick of being the bridesmaid. Would be the perfect fit for us.

I think he's quite one-dimensional.

Tom Ledger anyone? Not offered a contract at the saints, bit of a headcase from memory but seriously talented

Saints mates don't rate him one bit. Would like to see him in VFL for one season and see how he pans out.

Rumours he's unhappy with the Hawks for suppressing certain persuasions of his...

Might be heading out west

I thought Edwards sec half of year was really ordinary, hoping he would snap out of it and never really did. Whitely looked dangerous whenever he went near the ball

Agree he was ordinary second half of the year, he hit a pretty flat patch of form before injuring himself and playing 1 game out of the last 5 so never really ran into form again. But his first half of the year he was in our top 5 B&F IMO. His clearance work and quick hands are phenomenal, plus he's dangerous around goals. White's dangrous too but every bit as patchy as Titch form wise, probably more so over his career. Titch was very consistent in the 1st half of the season.
I'd have an in form Titch over an in form White in our 22 every day of the week, and twice on sundee

We won't get him but Savage is the type of player we need would be an upgrade on Grigg, Knights.

So you're saying Vlastuin (1 year) and Ellis (2 years) couldn't replace them? Now I know why opposition supporters say we overrate our players.
Who replaces Ellis & Vlastuin in their positions? Perhaps now you may understand just why they are so important. It's not just the roles they play but also the roles they allow others to play.

No I'm using them as examples of teenagers who have already overtaken Grigg and Houli, highlighting the fact they can be replaced by any first and second year players. Hypothetically speaking, McDonough replaces Houli and pick number 11 replaces Grigg, you genuinely believe we wouldn't make finals with this change?

Well this just proves your bias knows no bounds.

I don't think that word mean what you think it means. Unless your suggesting he's prejudiced against your ignorance of outside run.

Intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself

You do realise that Houli is a defender???

McDonough will be lucky to make it, Houli already has and is in our top 10 players.

Grigg is not far behind either.

Do you remember the rabble of a club we were before we brought these 2 guys in?

We had plenty of young players... who all turned to shit!!

Agree with all of this, except the assertion that McDonough will be lucky to make it. The kid's a star

I randomly named two players in a what if scenario to make a point that you obviously missed. And yes, we were a rabble, these guys have done their job but as I said in my previous post, if we are to go forward I don't think we will be there with Grigg and I said Houli is questionable as well. His turnovers are costly and I doubt his endeavor every time he enters a contest. Grigg has plenty of flaws and they're well documented so I'm not going to go into them. Here's ten Richmond players I rate above Houli and Grigg;
Cotchin
Ellis
Rance
Riewoldt
Martin
Conca
Vlastuin
Maric
Chaplin
Deledio
And I'll throw in Morris and Jackson for good measure. Grigg, Foley, Newman, King, McGuane, White, Edwards will all be pushed out of the side by the end of 2014.

I hope so!

Unfortunately experience would tell me unless he is doing what Vlastuin is doing now chances are he'll scrape in or be gone in. Of course I hope he is a star or at least a replacement for someone like Matty White for the future.

Houli had a better season than Ellis, Vlastuin, Maric and Conca.

Grigg was about on par with Ellis and Conca. With Vlastuin and Maric slight behind.

So basically you think Houli is questionable, Grigg, Foley, Newman, King, McGuane, White, S.Edwards all need to be replaced, and Tuck because he retired.

Can you name our best 22 less these players just for my amusement?

Better than Ellis? Surely now you're taking the piss. Vlastuin has already overtaken Houli, if we didn't have Maric this year we wouldn't of made the eight, if we didn't have Houli we wouldn't of moved from sixth and Conca was injured so it's unfair to judge them two but I'd take Conca over Houli any day of the week.

There's a high chance McGuane will be delisted, Foley is already out of our best 22 and is behind Ricky Pettard in terms of selection, Newman I'm probably wrong on but he struggled massively at times this season, King is 30 and done, will definitely not be best 22 by end of 2014, White was in and out of the side all year so he's barely best 22 now (could potentially be off to Collingwood too) and I meant Aaron Edwards (see White).

Ask me to name what I think my best 22 will be at the end of 2014 after the trading/drafting is done. You'll see McBean come in, Matty Arnott come in, McDonough come in, David Astbury come in, we have pick #11, possibly Taylor Adams, possibly Matt Thomas from Port Adelaide, Chris Knights to return from injury and who knows what other free agents will come in so there's roughly 8 candidates who are more than capable of replacing the ones I mentioned. No I don't think Houli will be gone by the end of next year but my original comment regarding him was I had doubts he'd still be in the side when we start challenging for the flag.

That's a luxury we have now... We'll have time to develop our juniors in the 2s without throwing them into the fire

It's something I think some of our supporters will have to get used to. Just because a junior hasn't been getting senior action doesn't mean we want to axe them. It could well mean we're grooming them for future roles
