We are pretty Lenient on you guys but if you don't want to listen, the above will happen with out further warning.

Better than Ellis? Surely now you're taking the piss. Vlastuin has already overtaken Houli, if we didn't have Maric this year we wouldn't of made the eight, if we didn't have Houli we wouldn't of moved from sixth and Conca was injured so it's unfair to judge them two but I'd take Conca over Houli any day of the week.

There's a high chance McGuane will be delisted, Foley is already out of our best 22 and is behind Ricky Pettard in terms of selection, Newman I'm probably wrong on but he struggled massively at times this season, King is 30 and done, will definitely not be best 22 by end of 2014, White was in and out of the side all year so he's barely best 22 now (could potentially be off to Collingwood too) and I meant Aaron Edwards (see White).

Ask me to name what I think my best 22 will be at the end of 2014 after the trading/drafting is done. You'll see McBean come in, Matty Arnott come in, McDonough come in, David Astbury come in, we have pick #11, possibly Taylor Adams, possibly Matt Thomas from Port Adelaide, Chris Knights to return from injury and who knows what other free agents will come in so there's roughly 8 candidates who are more than capable of replacing the ones I mentioned. No I don't think Houli will be gone by the end of next year but my original comment regarding him was I had doubts he'd still be in the side when we start challenging for the flag.

Statistically Vlastuin is quite a way off overtaking Houli and as Vlastuin develops he will become an inside mid. Luke Mcguane will most likely go to Brisbane as a free agent if he is not offered a new contract as Brisbane are intreasted in him again like last year, won't get near being delisted. Matt white wasn't in and out the side all year he missed 2 games from round 5 onwards and one was because of injury before that he played he didn't play a game. Yes fully agree with Aaron Edwards will be lucky to make the side after round 6, i reckon Mcbean or Griffths will star in the first 6 rounds of the Vfl and then keep him out the rest of the season. So if you think Shaun Grigg won't cut it why would you put in Matt Thomas?

Grigg is solely an outside mid whereas Thomas is a defensive mid i.e Tagger so they arn't like for like. Thomas more a replacement for Tuck as we need someone to take on the grunt work he did.

I'd agree. He was still good. But didn't seem to get as free as he did in 2012. :(
He played a different role this year. Last year he was given license to run all day, try and make space, and be fed the ball. This year Ellis took that role and Grigg was used more as a tagger.

Ellis's highs this year were on par with Grigg's from 2012 but Grigg was more consistent across the season (he was the only player in the AFL to get 20+ possessions in every game in 2012). Playing that role requires serious fitness, which is why I think Ellis has been pushed into it (he is apparently the fittest bloke at the club).

I think going forward Ellis will continue playing as our main outside receiver and Grigg will be a bit of a role player, but anybody who thinks Grigg is living on borrowed time at Tigerland obviously hasn't been watching the same games as me.

If Hardwick rates this list as a soon to be premiership contender then I think he will go after the likes of Chapman and Jolly and then add a young developing Adams and then we should be top four. But it is a big IF.

I have a feeling that this could be a very quiet off season for us.

You know what - if we keep Martin and pick up some more you guns in the draft, that wouldn't be such a bad thing. We've got a lot of improvement to come from the players we have...Would Love Adams, but looks destined for the Pies now...

But we need to pick up 1 or 2 IMO if we will challenge next year.

Why would clubs trade for Shaw when they can wait for FA? Even under contract GWS can sit and wait a few years if he is under contract can't they?

I think he has 2 years left on his contract. Why would you wait if you really wanted him? Bizarre

Heard Ralph on SEN earlier saying hawthorn can match the buddy offer from GWS then trade Buddy for say Pick 1/Taylor Adams..

I'd love to see that happen and then GWS call their bluff and not do a deal. Imagine Franklin eating up $1.9 million of Hawthorn's salary cap. They'd have to delist half their team :D

Rumours on Bigfooty and other forums, and discussion on radio, that Chapman will leave the Cats and specifically be at Richmond next year.

Good luck if you do. Would be huge!

that would be interesting indeed ... more interesting to see were he plays

I think Chapman would be good for our culture. i think we would be lucky to get a year out of him and I doubt we will make top 4 next year , but at a reduced price Chappy could add to the development of of youth and who knows maybe an assistant coach? Maybe we could get really lucky and he plays for us for 2 more years at a reasonably high level.

I think having another elite elder statesman like Newie is good around the place who can still provide quality output. IMO, it is good for the club/team where the players can look up to an experienced high performer for direction on an informal basis, particularly given Chappy isn't a real threat given retirement would not to far away and our window is minimum probably 2 years away. It would relieve the leadership burden a little off the leadership groups , lids, and Cotch who can concentrate more on their footy and also help develop leaders within our youngsters like Vlastuin. Not bad for belief having players with that type of track record around either:thumbsu:

yes i agree and what we lack is that experiance that knows how to hold ground and i think chappy can teach the young ones to do exactly that and maybe even have Hunt as well?

Time for us to push for Longer before Hawthorn starts splashing cash when Buddy leaves. I'll be surprised if we dont enquire about Jesse White, I said we should go for him half way through the year, but people didn't agree.
My wishlist
Adams
Longer
Jesse White
