According to Trade Radio, Terry Wallet has taken a call from another club who were enquiring about Matty White. The club is said to be 'possibly interstate'.

Just out of curiosity - what did you think of Maric before we picked him up...? Also Grigg?
Really liked Maric, thought he was too good for the SANFL.
Grigg, well I thought Collins was good so was dissapointed we lost him, but didn't know much about him.

The difference with White is I've seen a fair bit of him this year, he's a great athlete but an average footballer.

Fair enough - I disagree on White though, he seems like he has immense natural talent.

We need a tall leading half forward to put a bit more pressure on Vickery to perform. The way it stands if Vickery is fit, he is selected. It shouldn't be like that, he needs competition. Also decent back up.

So you want him as a depth player.....Just how much are we going to have to give up for someone to push McBean/Elton down the pecking order?

In a perfect world, we have at least AFL standard options for every position, but with draft, salary cap and trading, that jsut isn't going to happen and we have higher priorities.

I didn't say I wanted him for depth, but we need quality depth. Both the players you mentioned are still very young and are going to have chances down the track to break into the side.
Jesse White and Tyrone Vickery play the same position, what I have been saying is that Vickery isn't good enough to be entitled to a walk up start every week. Jesse White will put the pressure on him, whoever plays better during the season will play AFL the other will be putting pressure on that person from the 2's. I don't see an issue with that.

OK, so you want a second player for a single spot.

Either he's depth, or he pushes Vickery into being depth. Either way, it's a waste of resources.

heck me....Jesse White plays 1/2 a year and everyone is jumping over each other to get to him....unbelievable.
He is rubbish, he would not improve our side at all. Pursuing him is a waste of time we cold be spent chasing quality.

When injury hits TV we would have to play an under-developed Elton or McBean. Which could potentially cost us games. But i do understand where you are coming from, White may be surplus to requirements but I just think that we should at least entertain the idea of him. Really impressed me in the final against Carlton. We need players who will rise to the occasion come september. Which is why im of the opinion White/Chapman would be good recruits.

I think we need to pick a couple of key, realistic targets, and go hard at them.

If Longer has pretty much come to terms with the Hawks, I don't see that it would be all that beneficial to not only enter a bidding war, but try to get the kid himself to commit when it seems he's already decided on his preferred club.

I just don't think it would be beneficial to take a scatter gun approach, when we probably can't afford to bring more than one "bigger name" recruit in. Adams is obviously the one at the top of the list, so lets do all we can to lock him away.

I'm sure the club won't be doing a shotgun approach.

I would suggest they've had their targets picked out for a while.
