Trade in some decent hard working legit midfielders, they don't even have to be star standard just AFL standard.

Ah Chee, S Gray, Toumpas & a number of our flanker types Amon, Neade, Colquhoun etc all have question marks as to whether they're cut out for it.

That's not even taking into account our underperforming guns like Wines, Harts & Boak, our list manager has got some work to do.
Any quickfix mids as free agents?

throw up trengove, ebert, jonas, lobbe broadbent and see what we can get.

we are such a stale and vanilla football team, these players being the most stale and vanilla. we need refreshing through the draft.

forget trading in big name players and start rebuilding a **** football culture that has stunk from 2004 by getting rid of the constant awfulness of some of the regulars.

Maybe it might be a good idea to learn how to play football with the players we've got at the moment, and then trade to improve the team.
But four of our team will be missing long-term, 2 have just returned from injury. Things may not go to plan this year straight away but I still see us making the finals.

soooo....I just did some research, here's a list of players who are out of contract at season's end:

  • Jay Schulz
  • Paul Stewart (Free Agent)
  • Angus Monfries
  • John Butcher
  • Darcy Byrne-Jones
  • Brendan Ah Chee
  • Cam O'Shea
  • Aaron Young
  • Sam Colquhoun
  • Jake Neade
  • Matt White
  • Tom Jonas
  • Kane Mitchell (Rookie)
  • Nathan Krakouer (Rookie)
  • Will Snelling (Rookie)
  • Cameron Hewett (Rookie)
  • Dan Houston (Rookie)
at the rate we're going, many of these players are disposable, I can only see about five players worth keeping

in saying that, Aaron Young and DBJ need to be re-signed, like...right now! the only two rays of sunshine during this so far bleak season, what's the admin doing? stop faffing about with China and get this shit done before they're snapped up

edit: added Brendan Ah Chee to the list

You would say the following will go 100%:

Stewart
Hoon
Mitchell
Butcher

A huge cloud over the following:

Schulz
Monfries
O Shea
Neade
Jonas (should be in here but wont be)
Krakouer (not on ability but rather his inability to maintain general standard required at AFL level on and OFF field)

Obv keep
White
DBJ
Young (if he can continue playing well)

other rookies are much of muchness...

Players up for trade cant be the crap from above, but rather players other clubs would value. So if current form persists you would easily say some of the following are under scrutiny of being trade bait... Trengove, Broadbent, Ebert, Lobbe, Impey, and plenty others....

We wont delist more than 3. We got rid of our second pick coming up, so at best we are looking at say roughly picks 9, 45, 63.

At most we'll use those 3 picks and maybe 1 rookie upgrade. Our list is already too weak with 'high' picks to continue to bring in more. We're going to need to rely on our 1 high pick in 2016 and a good draft in 2017 to bring through new low draft pick talent.

So I'd say we're definitely going to delist P Stewart and Butcher. That's 2. Then there's likely to be 1 more delisting between Schulz, Monfries, O'Shea, Young and Hoon. With the Krakouer upgrade we may decide to delist 2 and move one of these guys to the rookie list. Though regardless you'd think Krak will definitely be on our main list by the end of the year.

well if we're not going to utilise Cam O'Shea, we might as well trade him to St. Kilda for their second or third round pick, that could restore this year's second round pick we traded for Dixon

So far I can see us letting go of Stewart and Mitchell, with Schulz retiring.

Butcher and Hoon are doing well, I wouldn't delist them.

Butcher has played one good game for the Port Magpies. The fact that he is on a one year contract should tell us something. Given the shit we are producing in the AFL, if Butcher cannot make the side in the next few weeks the writing is well and truly on the wall regardless of what we think of him as a player.

According to Rucci we will have the salary cap due to not paying Ryder and Monfries.

Anyway according to those ******s at the Monopoly Times the Crows have signed both Hurley and Heppell up.;)

We've only got it for next year, so yea we can afford him for 1 year, but the next few we can't.

Thats why we want someone who wants less money so you can front end load their contract to ease the salary cap in the coming years.

Kicked 4 vs West Adelaide in the last week of the pre-season, Kicked 4 vs Crows Reserves, Kicked 3 vs North Adelaide and freed up Reynolds to kick a bag himself (Which is what I'm hoping he can do for Dixon at AFL level).

The Norwood game is really his only disappointing game.

I ask this quite sincerely, has Hawthorn traded out any of there required players over the last 4 years? I can't think of any.
Centrals swallowed their pride and copied us in the day, perhaps we need to do the same with Hawthorn. Not just with players but across the club.

This talk of trading out players like Broady is counterproductive. It's not black and white with trading players because of issues not known but I would have thought Broady, Ebert, Impey are part of the solution.
Lobbe should have been traded last year when the Dogs wanted to give us a first round pick. Yes I know then we'd be relying on kids in the ruck but I can't see them doing any worse than Lobbe and we'd have another talented player on our books. We'd get SFA for Lobbe now. Lobbe is finished.
