I reckon teams will be making enquiries about Aaron Young, now I in no way want to loose him - BUT, I reckon that if the right price was offered... we would pull the trigger.

IF we were offered a pick in the early 20s, would we jump?

We are going to have to let quality go to bring in quality picks and or players - the reality is that Lobbe, Oshea and the likes are not going to demand a price of any value whereas Youngy just might.

A pick in the 20s would be tempting, but only if we plan to use the pick on a KPF or inside mid who slides. We don't want to trade Aaron Young for a pick we use to draft a player who spends 4 or 5 years developing into Aaron Young. We need to actually gain something from the trade.

Yep, I agree.

I think we have depth to cover him with a fresh Gus coming back in.

Aaron Young Re signed not long ago for another season. He is not going anywhere for now.

Yet people on here are talking about trading Hammer and Lobbe...
Yeah i know. I jut wasn't sure if anyone remembered Youngy's re signing recently. Lobbe and Hammer talks are all a pipe dream IMO. Won't happen this off season any way. I only think John Butcher, Cameron O'Shea, Sam Colquhoun, Brendon Ah Chee and Thomas Jonas are the only realistic players that may seek new homes.

Seriously do people see the absolute stupidity of getting a player to a decent level so they have some trade value to then trade them for somebody who is somewhat unknown. It's moronic. Trading players should only be used for a couple reasons 1. Player can't get a game but could get a game elsewhere think Moore, Newton. 2.You trade in for a specific need think Ryder, Dixon. 3. Player wants out and you need to get the best deal you can. There is no merit in trading like for like.

Its more about knowing your list and being prepared and ready to make a move if a beneficial opportunity presents itself..e.g. Lobbe for a first rounder last year should have been a no brainer!

Yep but those in the trade lobbe camp like myself were shot down in flames. We could have had 3 first round picks last year by trading lobbe and hartlett, now we will be lucky to get 1 for these 2. I will not trade our first pick this year, over the years we have traded our first round pick but i really want to draft a quality inside midfielder with this years pick.

Lobbe had a cracking 2014, but reality is that was his only decent year. He could of gotten us a first rounder or two (maybe). Youngy I don't have faith that he will back it up next year so we are only maximising return on a player that last year we were prepared to let go for nothing.

I don't think anyone is suggesting we trade like for like. The suggestion is we trade out players in roles where we have options (HBF, medium forwards) for picks/players in roles we're lacking (mids, KPFs) and we also trade out mature players who are unlikely to be permanent fixtures in our best 22 in 2017 and are too expensive to be depth (Lobbe).

Young has had a form spike this year so the question is will he be able to maintain that form in 2017 or should we cash in while he's at peak value? Would Young be an automatic inclusion in our best 22 once Wingard, White, Ryder return or do we push out Impey, Amon?

It's one of those arguments that revolve around do you ever trade your really valuable players. If you would trade Robbie Gray or Chad Wingard then yes. If not then hell no. This season Young was our best forward, with 36 goals in 21 games. He can also play as an in and under midfielder. What would the right price be that we did not lose out?

Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley says the Power will not trade for Jaeger O’Meara
PORT ADELAIDE coach Ken Hinkley has ruled out a play on Gold Coast midfielder Jaeger O’Meara insisting the Power will keep rather than trade its first-round draft pick.

Hinkley, a former Gold Coast assistant coach, is instantly linked to any player move at the Suns, more so since last year’s successful move on key forward Charlie Dixon.
But he has dispelled claims the Power already has scouted and approached O’Meara as Port Adelaide seeks a refit of its inconsistent midfield.

Plus for not trading our first round pick. Minus for once again, this time implicitly, backing our under performing 'top 4' list, as you can (outrageous I know) trade players other than fringe players wanting out to make trades happen.

The thing that youngy has on his side is versatility. He can play lead up, inside , outside , pocket. The other players are quite specific in their skill set (bar Chad/god).
