Nah he wouldn't. He averages 18 disposals a game. If you think Willem Drew doesn't get enough of the ball I'm not sure why you would replace him with a player who averages around the same in a better team.
Except that Jack Graham predominantly player half-forward this year at Richmond and Drew was in our midfield always

I have no problem targeting Graham. 24-25, would play pretty much every game for us, tackles like his life depends on it, runs all day, gets from contest to contest and can kick a goal from 50.

We’ve got an extra $650k a year that we were going to spend on Dunkley that we need to spend on someone. In 2019, Graham was 2nd for Pressure Acts and Tackles at Richmond, and averaged out to being 1st for pressure across the entire AFL.

If he's available, get him. He'll make us better, no doubt.

This guy gets it.

Graham is one of the best 2 way runners in the AFL and compliments the "bigger names" so don't worry about his lack of supercoach points.

His output was down this year as he played injured all season (turf toe) which ultimately ruled him out of our final.

Butters and Rozee would benefit greatly from Graham joining your midfield and would be a very smart pick up which is better than a "sexy" trade given you already have the cream in Butters and Rozee.

Personally, I don't think he'll leave us but money talks - Port can definitely turn his head financially.
Your pushing him out to make room for Hopper and Taranto blind Freddie could see that .

We have good midfield depth already:

Wines
Rozee
Boak
Butters
Drew
Mead
Dumont

#9 will be used one way or another to add an A-Grade midfielder or draft a potential A-Grade midfielder.

C4 had a mid season rumour that we were into Ely Smith from Brisbane. Heard nil about that since but that would be good business for a third rounder.

I might be underestimating him, but I see Graham as a solid B-Grade mid. Not really a need for us. If the Amon compensation lands at mid second round, that would be the most I would pay for Graham, just on the theory that you can never have enough good midfielders.

Crouch….NO. He is not a good AFL standard midfielder. He is a C-Grader at best and last year performed as a D-Grader. Plus he’s an ordinary human. No, just no.

I would also enquire about Mathieson from Brisbane. Way down the list now that they have Dunkley and Ashcroft and I like him because he’s a real @#$%. We need a real @#$%. They speak of him being the soul at Brisbane. He would bring a hardness to our midfield that SPP and Dixon bring to the forward line, Jonas brings to the backline and Jones brings to wherever we play him. We need to redefine ourselves as a team no one wants to play. Mathieson would help there. He’s probably a C-Grade footballer (so 3rd round pick in a poor draft) but he’s quite capable of a B-Grade influence on a team.

Note: SPP is not a midfielder. He struggles to find the ball enough. We’ve tried enough there. He has been physically mature enough to play AFL mid, since he was 9 yo, but he just can’t find the ball enough to even do Drew’s defensive role. He has, however, worked out how to play the really difficult HFF role. Leave him there.

Exactly - he'll be cheaper than he normally would be because they need to dump his salary.

Graham is very highly rated at Richmond. Finished second in their B&F last year, considered a future captain. He would improve our midfield, no doubt about it.
If he finished 2nd in their bnf last year I would say that’s an indictment on them and probably a result of their decline.
Except that Jack Graham predominantly player half-forward this year at Richmond and Drew was in our midfield always
The fact that graham couldn’t crack Richmond’s midfield in a year their entire midfield declined at an insane rate suggests he isn’t a midfielders arseh*le, but rather a flanker / utility.

We don't catch up to Richmond by adding Graham while they add Toranto and Hopper.

Richmond clearly pushing him out that's how much they rate him.
What on earth gives you that idea? :straining: What's clear is that Port have missed out on Dunkley and asked the question of SA born Graham. He's rated very highly within the club, just listen to Dimma any time he is brought up. Can't see him leaving anyway but Port could do a lot worse than getting Graham.

I'm a fan of Jack Graham, wouldn't mind seeing him at Port. He did his AFL apprenticeship with us, so knows his way around Alberton.
