The reason why you target guys like Graham is because his work ethic and ability to provide the link on the outside and get from contest to contest elevates the game of everyone else. He's a heart and soul player - the glue that holds the whole thing together. Not everyone in the team can or should be some superstar potential AA. Premiership teams aren't built around collecting as many gun players as you can get like as if they were trading cards - if it was, both Essendon and Brisbane would have won flags by now.

We're not looking for the best players, we're looking for the right ones.

One may say he works hardery for longery, and fits Kenny’s plans to a tee.

I would not be dealing out any future picks.
That’s been our biggest problem over the last couple of years is unloading 2nd round picks so we go from first round to leftovers.
Most of these players from Vic teams who are on the move are no hope of coming to SA.
This is all a bit of fun this time of year much better than 24/7 Lizzie TV.

Graham if anything will be an upgrade on Drew,

How?

Drew averages similar or more in every category bar goals, where he’s only 0.2 behind graham, while being younger and more upside.

If drew played for Richmond, and graham gere, posters would be calling for drew saying he’s an upgrade on graham. The grass is greener syndrome is something else on this board.

I would also enquire about Mathieson from Brisbane. He would bring a hardness to our midfield

Note: SPP is not a midfielder. He struggles to find the ball enough.
1. Mathieson ? **** no. Dudes a scrub.

2. You can’t say Spp isn’t a mid cause he can’t find the ball immediately after saying we should recruit a dude who gets less of the ball than him.

3. A 3rd rounder for Ely smith? The dudes a dead certainty to get delisted. If a team wants him, they’ll get him as a dfa or rookie.

Only if Amons compo was in the 3rd round.

Can this club stop targeting **** players like Jr Rioli, Jack Graham, Francis Evans and Aaron Francis?
No, the Trade period has not even started, we keep our powder dry and save the Amon Compo: Graham is contemplating leaving because:
  1. the two ex-GWS recruits will reduce his playing opportunities
  2. Richmond need to reduce their salary Cap.
If we were to match his current contract, it is a salary dump; therefore, it should precipitate a very, very low pick.

1.1 extra inside 50s per game
89.4 extra meters per game
2 extra pressure acts per game

He's a more balanced version of Drew.

Like the right coach a decade ago? 🤓

I assume he is being pushed to make room for Taranto and Hopper both on field and in the salary cap. Given that context of when he last signed a contract it’s plausible he’s on a back ended deal.

Graham is a good solid player who any club would be happy to have on their list but not the type you give anything up at the trade table for. I’m ok with it given he’s a good age and our list depth in 2022 was deplorable.
No chance he will be getting pushed out due to cap reasons and his 100% best 18
He has everything a leader would need and a integral part of our premiership teams

Certainly wouldn't be let go easily and Richmond paid up to keep him when 4 clubs came calling and i have no doubt they will again when he is out of contract end of next year

Port are targeting too many guys in contract for my liking
THE LION IN WINTER

Brisbane must trade some players to generate picks to facilitate the Dunkley trade and two father/son Picks.
I wonder, when living in Perth, did Josh Carr had any contact with the Lions, Devon Robertson?
The former WA U18 Captain, who won Larke Medal as the best player in the Under 18s championships, may be gettable.

Normally you would expect the Dockers will make a play for out-of-contract West Aussies like Devon Robertson, Jeremy Sharp or Quinton Narkle etc. However, rumour is Bell is moving back to North and the WA teams could be preoccupied with sorting out a deal for Luke Jackson.

So, Devon may fly under their radar; after all, Adelaide is closer to Perth than Brisbane.
An ideal un-contracted bundled pair from the Lions could also include Tom Berry (the third brother)

Why Brisbane?
Poetic Justice: an outcome in which vice is punished and virtue rewarded usually in a manner peculiarly or ironically appropriate.

The character of Fagin from Oliver Twist is the villain. Described as mean and sinister, he takes homeless boys, such as Oliver, and turns them into pickpockets. Charles Dickens really portrays him to be an ugly, selfish man.

Surely there will be draft sanctions for Brisbane and Hawthorn. This is 100 times worse than the Essendon’s drug saga.
Good point: I had not thought of that; albeit, I reckon any draft sanctions would be too late for this year.
