Every player in Hawthorns best 22 could get more money elsewhere, the powers at be would of offered what they thought he was worth. We, by all accounts have a strict pay structure that the leadership group bought in on, it's business. If Young doesn't want to sign so be it, if it comes down to a choice of him or Buddy I know who I would rather keep hold of.

Exactly, Buddy is on massive unders at Hawthorn like many others, but he sticks around. Club or cash, your call Mr Repay the faith.

but its not a choice between him and buddy..It'll be nice if we managed to hold on to a player who looks all but gone...just like pies did with cloke

Why would you pester Young?
Wouldn't you pester the footy club to make the effort to keep him if you are going to go down that path?
They are the ones in the power seat.

Still cranky.
Why would you bother pestering anyone?

*not suggesting you are, or would*

The club are going about making trades, and are managing the list as they've planned for a long time. They didn't get to trade week and say "hey, I think we should maybe trade Young and Gilham out, what do you reckon guys?".

They've been at work all year, talking to managers, watching TAC games, SANFL games, WAFL games, our own games, deciding where the list needs to be in 18 months time, who will play in our next flag, who is treading water, who will add to the list, who won't etc etc.

Tweeting the HawthornFC twitter account, or players and telling them your thoughts on who we should trade, who we should keep and why is completely and utterly pointless.

Agree with this, but sometimes it's not a bad thing and could sway a decision, although highly unlikely. Similar to Chris Grant and the 20 cents.
Not something I'd do but if someone feels passionate enough, each to their own. If someone wants to remind Youngy of his grandiose statement of just 3 weeks ago, I don't have a problem with it. Just be respectful. But again, not something I'd do.

Still amazed by the fact that we may lose him for pick 40 or something. As good as Wellingham who was worth Pick 17. Sure that was a trade but surely we coudn't be screwed like that

Agreed. If Wellingham is worth 17, then so is Young.
I understand he's a free agent, but 40 is a joke when Wellingham is 17.

Thing is he will probably only get one more contract so why not get the most he can.

i'd hate to lose him, but he is replaceable and if he wants to go elsewhere then good luck to him.

Because he gave the big ones and then chased the money. If money was his motivation, why do a piece about loving the club? Just say nothing, submit a trade request and walk, don't lie!

But I love this club, there is no doubt about that. I am looking forward to hopefully the next few weeks and then we will sort it all out.

Maybe he didn;t think he would get any other suitors?? Maybe he is unhappy with the offer from us, thinking he would get more than offered. Not sure.

As Clarko would say, he is soldier lost and one we must (potentially) replace.

There's no point pestering anyone, this will play out between the parties not us fans, just felt for Youngy to be copping it, when one would think it better directed against the club.

PS. Stop replying with logic re trading/delisting, I was enjoying my sulk!
:p

Make no mistake, Coll chasing Clit will make all the rest of the clubs ears prick up and consider!

I feel we are in the box seat, and will acheive a great outcome from him...great value for a new club. One or both of Toy and Weller please, diminishes trading him to the enemy too....c'mon Graham make it happen he is the ace up our sleeve!

Can we get the FT rules stickied on this forum? This is getting ridiculous.

Or they would have offered something they knew he would not take, in order to orchestrate something else or to make the most of the lake trade.

Maybe they think he is surplus now with Lake down back and us able to free up either Birch or Suckers onto the wing.

Maybe they want to develop Savage for the next year and Youngy is not required because of that.

Who knows, whatever it is I trust the club when it comes to trades, even the Kennedy / McGlynn trades were good for us at the time.

We cannot trade Clinton unless we are dealing with a team like Port Adelaide that has lost a player to free agency and does not want Young to interfere with the compensation they recieve
