AFLW 2024 - Round 9 - Indigenous Round - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
True that and I'm not sure exactly how misinformed, ignorant, or just plain dumb**** stupid you have to be to not know that muscle weighs more than fat. So if a player comes back from break completely ripped and having packed on muscle, he's going to be heavier than someone who porked out and got on the piss the whole time. The AFL/Clubs never posted accurate weights anyway.
So it's not going to stop the average punter going: "He looks to have come back out of shape", because it wasn't ever really based on numbers.
I appreciate the report.Much better session today. Absolute scorcher out there, lot of smiles when the final whistle went. 1st years absent.
Seems to be a heavy focus on repeat running, lots of encouragement from the group getting everyone through each end. Biggie was the most vocal during the repeat sprints towards the end.
Won’t go through every drill, I don’t want to upset anyone again.
Watched some guys more than others today, few bits:
Hansen Jnr: Fitter, pushed himself through all the last few repeat 100m got a lot of encouragement from everyone. His ball use is excellent, lot of the early transition drills he was nailing teammates on the chest short and long range.
Comben: Much more involved today, looks in good shape and was running well. Done some one on one defending stuff with Corr and a coach to finish his day. Nice kick coming out of defence btw, he’s atleast got that over McKay.
Phillips: Been a critic but he’ll have a big year if he can get through the pre season unscathed. Looks in terrific shape, running well and involved in everything when they ran set plays.
LDU: Sublime, don’t need to say more. Picture of an athlete.
Fisher: Has brought alot of personality to the group already. Was on the end of some jokes/sledging from the rest of the group.
K.Dawson: probably up there with my pick of the bunch at the end of every session I’ve been to. Leads the way in a lot of the repeat running.
Thomas, Logue, Corr + a few other injured lads all participated in the warmup at the start. Left for the gym after that and then returned to run/walk laps. Logue looks good was running and kicking with ease, not sure if ahead of schedule but done quite a bit.
Feel free to ask about anyone else, apologise if it came across as negative the other day. Wasn’t the intention .
Edit: one I forgot again, Larkey was there today. Involved in the early drills then ran some laps and went in early.
Ah yet another post of yours about me
When has that ever stopped people? It will be harder for us to know if we can call Cam Zuurhar a fat campaigner up until round 12.
Trust the AFL knows how heavy they are. They just don't want you to know itThese are men playing in the AFL, a competition consisting of male players completely seperate from the AFLW who already hide their players' weights. It would sure be nice to know how say Duursma or Dawson track over the next few years while they build their bodies as full time athletes but I guess logic doesn't apply to AFL HQ.
Next we'll be ripping out the urinals.I have never looked up a player's weight, so the change doesn't really bother, though it is unusual. We can see you, we know if you're over/under weight. Hiding the number doesn't hide that.
In the future, all toilets will be unisex toilets and while it won't be easy, you'll just have to do the best you can.Next we'll be ripping out the urinals.

Haven’t heard any whispers, but I’d say we aren’t looking to fill it considering we haven’t had any train on players other than our VFL listed players. In saying that I’m sure we are looking closely at a few of those that may fit the bill. Sellers, Downie, De La Rue ect.Great write ups RF and much appreciated.
Any word if we’re filling the last spot on the list before the season
Taylor & Fisher probably the worst that don’t have any injury excuses. If you have those injured players fit, Taylor is already well down the pecking order.Seems like it’s only Taylor that's got the poor grade without injury/surgery factors?
Interesting.
Seems like the midfield group in particular is developing in leaps and bounds.
In fact there seems to be players in every position who are progressing well this preseason, except for our small defenders. Really need one of Archer and Lmac to have a good run at it over the next few months.
Heard anything about Deakyn Smith since he started training with our seniors?Small defenders and key forwards still glaring spots on our list. Comben definitely playing back really hurts our key forward depth.

Not a bad team compared to previous years. It feels almost like a critical mass of professional players have been drafted and traded in to turn our misfortunes around.
Hopefully we'd add Corr.I think you’d need to add pink

So the players and clubs will still know, they just won’t publish because it’s no one else’s business. Struggling to see what the problem is here.
The backline without Logue is a train wreck.
