Who resides with each other out of Josh, IQ & Bobby? From Side By Side
The players drifted out at 9.10 and were greeted by an unblemished azure sky and dewy grass. We were back training on our own territory, and later the ground was bathed in pleasant sunshine.
There were a few absentees: Josh Daicos, IQ and Hill among them, all suffering from illness and two of these reside with one another. It’s a bugbear (pardon the pun) of track watchers that we never seem to be clear of the debilitating symptoms of flu and associated lurgies. We know from JDG’s output against Port that a bout of these seasonal germs does detract from performances.
Murley was also missing.

It is interesting to note that the hyphen after returning to full training has resumed his position as a black top wearer.
The players warmed up with their desultory kicking routines and some ground ball retrieval with trainers firing the ball into the turf.
They then split into three groups with a mix of black and white tops among all
One focussed on the forward kicking and high knee lifts working out specific muscles , another spent time baulking cones and running with a weight, while the third undertook some close-in handball drills.
The whole group then did some running which forced them to stretch out a bit between the arcs.
Michell, Ginni, Sidey and Carmichael all did some specialised short running with a weight contraption under the vigilant eye of a trainer.
Then all players sprinted to the centre, and after clearly listening to McRae or the coaches, a loud round of applause accompanied by some affirming yelps reverberated around the arena.
Further groups then formed which appeared to be targeted with certain line players focussing on various skills.
For example, all the larger and taller framed KPP and ruck types – Frampton, Dean, Moore, Begg, Murphy, McStay, Cox, Checkers, Cameron, Kelly, Steene and Ash spent time contesting marks in pairs and running towards a mark with another player swinging a tackling bag, trying to create an impediment.
Elsewhere there were handball and short kicking to position drills.
Was interesting to see Dean participating in the general activities. Later while match simulation took place, he completed running, including a lot of agility work with a trainer. He is progressively being reassimilated into the main group.
This was followed by some whole ground movement work, featuring multiple footballs, with the emphasis on slick delivery by hand and foot.
After that the players went for some rehydration with many sprinting full pace to vary the tempo of their training loads. This was also a strategy pause as the players listened intently to some instruction from the coaches.
Returning to the fray the players were involved in some high intensity half the ground ball movement.
Following another deep conversation between the coaches and their charges, they assembled for match simulation.
This was relatively short but played with much vim and vigour and players were not holding back in tackling and applying pressure to their opponents in contests. The aerial duels were willing and the track watchers speculated that this was in response to McRae’s concerns with the drop off in pressure being applied. Given that the Blues have partly risen on the back of extra pressure points, we would have to be acutely aware of this facet of our game.
WHE played on Wilson on the wing in the absence of Josh. Other match-ups included Ash on Howe, Moore on Steene, with Kelly and Ruscoe minding the likes of Checkers and McStay. Reef played some time in the middle and is showing encouraging signs.
Jamie and Checkers worked well together and the ball moved crisply around our sometimes dysfunctional forward zone.
Moore stymied quite a few forward moves by the whites with some strong marking but the highlight was McStay’s pack screamer. He elevated himself above a nest of fellow Magpies and clunked the mark. Many players rotated through positions and were pitted against different guys and the standard was really impressive given the willingness of the combatants to test the mettle of their opponents.
After this training gradually wound down with players seemingly choosing what to focus on. Elliott, Adams, Lippa and Pendles practised their goalkicking and earlier in the session Jamie treated spectators to more of his stellar goal slotting from the boundary line.
Some players were doing a contesting drill between poles, while the line coaches were in deep discussions with various players.
Or are you referring to Bobby & Murley, who I just noticed was also missing training?
