Anyone not training today? I assume DeGoey pulled up OK with his knee. And suspect he'll be better off come prelim night.
Only Johnson. Oscar. Kelly, Ruscoe werent there. Everyone else looked fine They had a light session with some soccer games, plus ball skill drills.

How did Nick look today? Was he participating in everything?
Yeah, did some drills, tackling, the soccer fun games they did, then once everyone went inside, spent 20 mins being put through his paces with some running and sprints.

Looks like it’s all just straight line movement- probably a little early to test the knee with lateral movement.
Maybe TRS has a view?

To me he has a way to go, even in a straight line.

I’m sure he’s leaving no stone unturned in his recovery, but it’s going to take (IMHO) every hour of the next 10 days to get ready in time for full contact.

I know O’Meara has had a knee cap injury, (that may have been mismanaged), which has really impacted his career.

Do we run a similar risk playing Nick, or is this injury where say playing at 80-90% has low risk of chronic issues, even with re-injury on the day?

Not quite, Jaeger had really bad injuries from the get-go:

He also had patellar tendonitis which ended another season

Jaegar had a patella tendon rupture, which is up there with a ruptured achilles in terms of lower limb injuries which take longer to recover from than an ACL. It’s very different to Nick’s injury so I won’t go down that line of discussion for now.

My concern is a Superstar like Nick, even at 80% fit would pose a selection dilemma, given he could be the difference between winning and losing a PF.
He definitely has the potential to be the difference, for sure. However, in this instance I don;t think that Nick will be the difference. I'd be completely comfortable with the fitness staff holding him back from the Prelim if he wasn't quite right and bringing him in for the GF. Because, I sincerely believe that, we will make the big dance either way.

How much lateral movement or twisting and turning did he do?
Iirc lateral movement twisting etc isn’t a significant hurdle to overcome in this type of injury. Was it you that said that The Royal Sampler ?

I had a really random thought seeing that.

Say Daicos didn't live in Australia and grew up elsewhere, would his athlete poise transfer and see him starring as a professional soccer player in Europe? Or could you imagine Daicos as a quarterback in the NFL?
I think his vision, lateral movement, agility, work ethic & crazy hand-eye/foot coordination would suit soccer & basketball very well. Too small for QB though.

I'm not medical expert, but if this is really just a hairline fracture in the patella, then why isn't it as simple as "bone is healed, good to go"?
My guess is the bone would be fine but the muscles around it my need to be restrengthened as he was off it for 4-5 weeks. And id assume even when healed there would be discomfort in the area. Thats my Dr Nick Riviera opinion
