My friends and I had an awful experience the first time I ever visited Lorne. Had to sort out some bogans looking for trouble. They picked the wrong people.

New Years Eve in Lorne is to be avoided at all costs.
I would hate to live there.

Give me the quiet spots around Victoria. Must be getting old.

Renting a 40 FT yacht for 11 days between 10 friends. Around $500 each then.
Not sure what it costs nowadays.

Absolute bliss. Park the Yacht at various piers and do the pubs for dinner.
This ship had living quarters for all of us, full kitchen lounge and showers.
Unbelievable Stereo system indoors and outdoors.
Ships name was Krystal,
I can never forget.

We smashed into one pier after to many beers. $27k damage. Just scratches.
Luckily we took out a insurance policy.

Yes the entire lakes area is magical - there is a small boutique winery in the hills just inland from Lakes entrance that has a wonderful cellar door and is deeply connected to the town. They have cruises linked to the winery which is a superb experience on a warm spring or summer evening.

De goey wasn’t ready for midfield until last few years so I’d give reef time. But for the time being he can play forward maybe small stints in the midfield.

I agree about WHE.. especially given looks like he may be in for a role change.

Defence will be a hard line to crack but I think WHE can offer something there with his combination of run and carry plus intercept marking.

I can't fit WHE into the best 23. He can run and come in at the right moment but it's hard to see him becoming a regular in the side when we have so many other options. Is it time to look ahead to the future? Probably. Arlo's ready. Harrison is ready. I'd say both Arlo and Harrison are safe provided they don't do anything stupid or sustain career-ending injuries (touching a plank of wood they don't). Murley, on the other hand, will be off the books come November.

With Reef, we might as well end the midfield idea. We can build the tank but it's going to take ages. Far better to target that height.

In my book, Carmichael is ahead of either of your two boys, KS. Reef seems just a slow-burn prospect at the moment, who'll probably play in the VFL this year, until he builds his tank.

I can't fit WHE into the best 23. He can run and come in at the right moment but it's hard to see him becoming a regular in the side when we have so many other options. Is it time to look ahead to the future? Probably. Arlo's ready. Harrison is ready. I'd say both Arlo and Harrison are safe provided they don't do anything stupid or sustain career-ending injuries (touching a plank of wood they don't). Murley, on the other hand, will be off the books come November.

Hopefully Draper and Harrison are not thinking they are as safe as you think. I am sure Murley realises he is on a tightrope career wise buts its not hopeless for him. For all 3 of these guys what they did in 22 and what they do on the preseason track will count for very little compared to how they perform once the season begins. With all having not got any AFL games season 1 they would want to do that earlish in 23 to put their names up for another contract.

With Bianco and Ruscoe in a similar boat, while Ginni, McCreery, Macrae, ND and McInnes already contracted beyond this season there will be competition for list spots come the end of 23 and Arlo and Harrison wl be in that fight.

My guess is you rented a yacht from either Riviera Nautic in Metung or Bulls Cruisers in Paynesville?
Every time I come across one of these yachts on the water I give them a wide berth. Fair chance the skipper has NFI how to drive a boat well. I’ve seen some crazy boneheaded manoeuvres on those yachts. Can’t imagine what those companies have to pay for insurance.
But yeah I agree the Gippsland Lakes are awesome.

Yeah I think he will certainly get games. But I do see him slipping down the pecking order over the course of the season.

Still don’t understand how boat rentals work to allow boats to be operated without a licence. Not that a licence holder can necessarily handle a boat.

Obviously not busy enough to keep Jonbe distracted from his crazy.

Both Draper and Harrison are rated enough internally that they have their debuts earmarked provided they stay fit. Our VFL side has more depth than it usually does so pre-season and work ethic are going to be points that matter when deciding who stays and who leaves.

Wouldn't be so sure. We have plenty of alternatives across the season to WHE. It's hard to fit him in the best 23 now. The kids are showing plenty of footy skill, too. There's probably a better measurement of best 29 which is the best 23 plus six others who'll float in and out of the team throughout the season.

I think it was Riviera Nautic.
We all had to do a course beforehand for a few hours. Must have been 25 years ago so I imagine it's way more expensive now.

I should added that I hope WHE doesn’t play, because then our team is better. My experience with young players is they are up and down…you need players like WHE who can carry a load and do what is required for the team week in week out. WHE runs all day, plugging holes kicking the odd goal. This is important in the modern game.
