Just got back from dinner with the in laws in Torquay and realised after a while I was sitting across from Chip Frawley and his missus and parents. He is as tall as you would expect, but looks so much leaner in person.

what is this geelong supporter trying to suggest? Are they injured or is the about what was in the news and just typical geelong supporters?

Putting a lot of faith in unknowns in Brand, Fitzy and Kiwi
Not to mention injury prone Chip and Spang
Gus also
How many sides have a decent 3rd tall forward though? Are they really going to throw in some average Magoos player or an extra ruck plodder just to try and stretch us down back? I'd back us in for the most part.

Porkins - Clark - Stanley/Hendo

Kennedy - Darling - NicNat (when not rucking)

Franko - Tippett - Reid

Am sure there are a few others....

It will be a gamble though with fewer rotations as we seem to have finally learned not to bomb it long to Harry Taylor and I doubt many third defenders will beat Gunners on the lead....

Can any Box Hill watchers out there give me a run down on Brand? Obviously he missed last year and fingers crossed he comes on but it seems either him, Kiwi or the Spangh will need to really step up this year if we need extra tall coverage down back....

Brand is the best part of two metres tall. Spent 2013 in the development squad due to his light frame. Played mainly as a defender but was used up forward on occasion. Showed good skills and agility. 2014 played at BHH mainly as a last line defender but had the odd stint in the ruck. He showed a heap of improvement but still got done a few times due to lack of strength. Nice user of the footy but needs to improve the 'tall' side of his game.

His upside is he could develop into a Talia/Trengove type tall defender. He is our best KPD prospect since Jonny Hay, not as quick but a better user of the footy. If he cannot improve his body on body work he will be a bust. It's been too long since we developed our own KPD we are due.

Has Rioli had any injuries this preseason? Reading your training reviews and he isn't really getting much of a mention.

Dead right. I read an article a while back stating just that. Basically saying that Hawthorn were the first club to realise that coaches are educators these days and in order to educate you need to be able to teach. Clarkson, Bolton, Carroll, Rob McCartney and David Rath all have teaching backgrounds. As per usual the rest of the comp are only just starting to cotton on!

John Kennedy Snr. was a teacher also. It is no mistake we went back to what works.
