Notice you kept the timeline to that to exclude 04/05.

How many times has Everton finished bottom half?

I’ll give you a hint, it’s about the same as Chelsea from the PL inception to the takeover.

In regards to Spurs, they seem like a much bigger club now than Chelsea were in the mid 90’s comparatively.

I actually made that timeline because it was more than double the 7 years you'd used with Chelsea.

Chelsea were always a much bigger club than Everton and it's weird you keep trying to push this narrative.

I’m allowed my own opinion last I looked, given I lived in London in the 90’s.

I never mentioned 7 years, Moomba did.

Everton were huge in the 80’s.

Did you even support the game back then?

15 for Everton. 5 for Chelsea.

9 for Spurs fwiw.

I mean there's things that are opinion and there are things that are facts. This is far more the latter than the former.

Since we're talking the PL, not sure why Everton's size in the 80s bears any relevance other than to allow you to shift the goalposts.

Did I support the game in the 80s before I was born? I dare say I didn't.

As someone who was a fan back then I'd say we were more like Spurs are now, hovering around top 4 but lacking the financial backing to crack into title winning calculations.
Can't wait for Art Vandelay_ to see the comparison between Chelsea and Spurs.

You were not dodging trophies back then from my recollection. So not exactly the same.

Everton are 4 in the last 15 years vs Chelsea’s 4 prior to takeover in a similar timeline

Anyway, I don’t need validation.

I attended the Bridge in the 90’s, they were a decently sized club back at the takeover but laughable to suggest they were some worldwide club.

Thanks for admitting you probably don’t know what you are talking about then.

Chelsea hadn’t won a title in 50 years prior to the takeover and 55’ their only 1st division title at that.

Everton last title was 34 years ago and they’ve won 9 of them.

If you remove all the plastic tourists, they have pretty comparable UK based support size even now, I’d suggest it was more Evertons way in the early 00’s etc

What a strangely condescending attitude to take.

You started by saying Chelsea in the 7 years prior to the takeover were on a level with Everton, now it's become "averaging out performances over the 30 years going back to the 80s, Everton had some years as good as Chelsea".

Why not just say "I don't like Chelsea and like to think of them as a minnow club" which is clearly much more the truth, and would fit the whole "hey man it's my opinion" vibe rather than quoting false statistics?

Please let me know where I mentioned 7 years? Seems you created those goal posts to suit your argument.

I said Chelsea in the PL era leading into the takeover were a similar size to Everton of the last 15 years.

Chelsea definitely got their act together in the couple of years leading into takeover.

Chelsea’s history for the 30 years proceeding is kind of important to my point rather than 2 4th place finishes in a 4 year window prior to the takeover.

As I said, it’s my opinion and I was there.

You make out like Everton even now aren’t a decently sized club. Their supporter bases even now are similar in the UK, in fact Everton probably has a better away following.

Sorry that was moomba's timeframe not yours, but it aligns with basically the entirety of the PL before the takeover just about, which lines up with your "Chelsea in the PL era" comments.

You have a clear anti-Chelsea bias, it's just a bit boring to read when you dig in like this and pretend you're talking facts.

So how about them transfers?
Yes. How about we discuss loans, and if they should affect postponement decisions. Thoughts all?

Nah you were spending enough money, just buying the wrong players.
