Transgender - Part 2

Please be aware that the tolerance of anti-trans language on BF is at an all-time low. Jokes and insults that are trans-related, as well as anti-trans and bigoted rhetoric will be met with infractions, threadbans etc as required. It's a sensitive (and important) topic, so behave like well-mannered adults when discussing it, PARTICULARLY when disagreeing. This equally applies across the whole site.

I was fascinated by this, so looked it up. At conception the embryo is chromosomal male XY. It's not until week 6 that male gonads are developed through the SRY gene expression. So at conception, male embryo is XY, not XX female.

Ah, no, what's hilarious is how gullible some of the commenters in this thread are. Everyone is not conceived xx female.
You are of course aware that women can be xy as well right?

I tend when commenting on a subject like this to simplify something that’s incredibly complex for ease of understanding.

It’s caught me out here but the fact remains:

Phenotypically an embryo does not actually become male until around 6 weeks

Yeah, but that's inferring that absence of penis or testicles makes you female.
You can be conceived xy and become a woman.

You don’t become a male until around 6 weeks when mumsy hits you up with a burst of hormones that make you develop into what you are going to be.

Be that male, female or some combination of the two.

I don't think you become female until 6 weeks either. I'm no expert, so happy to be corrected, but a quick read says that the gonadal ridge starts to develop at week 6 and develops into testes for males and ovaries for females.

So embryos are essentially sexless until week 6. With the exception of disorders and genetic mutations, XY karyotypes will develop male sex glands and XX will develop female glands.

PS, I'm happy to move this discussion to a science thread as I know the point of the transgender thread is more important than a purely biology question.

Looks accurate.

So Donny boy has just rendered the us as a nation of gender less folk.

Okay.

If there is something in the news related to this thread, post a link to show evidence of it happening. If there is no evidence, the place for it - regardless of whether or not the victim was trans - is the Conspiracies subforum, to discuss why it isn't hitting the news.

Thread has been cleaned up. Thanks, all.

I like how a review was completed last year and everything was ok but new government equals ban and new review as an excuse to have the ban in place for months without any actual justification

10 is old enough to go to jail 17 is too young to get medical treatment from a professional
