Rather than do just contested marks, I've put together a short video of all his "involvements". Sorry about the quality, I had to zoom in so you could see him. Also I did it all in slo-mo.

Thanks for the effort there.
There’s a whole lot of Meh though before 3:40, other than the first mark.
I didn’t get to watch the trial game but he was hyped up more than his output by the looks.
Not going to slam him because he’s still a kid but I was expecting more than what I saw due to comments on here.

Gee that’s a big call to make on a young guy on the up
His best football will be a combination of hard running and marking the ball at its highest point on a lead.

Which is fine. He should be using his strengths to maximise his impact.

He's also not shirking the contested marking attempts (either taking them or bringing the ball to grounds for the smalls), which should add to his game. Which will only increase as he gets stronger and more confident (he's only 21 after all).

Pepper pig needs to be given at least 5 games. Not far off the Riccuito hit on Kemp.

Watch the game in real time. Slow motion shots of the ball being kicked over his head or a rock contest aren't exactly flattering.

Nah, they weren't being kicked over his head - he was running under them. Anticipating contact with Alir. I wont labour the point, and I hope he does toughen up a bit, but right now, he's just a little contact averse in aerial contests.

I’m not looking at anything where the balls kicked over his head 😆
He took 4 contested marks ( 3 on Alir/ Esava)

For context Curnow lead league last year with 2.6 per game

He was the best tall forward on the ground and was in our top 3 players on the ground

Not bad for a 21 yo tall …. Also it’s a month of big performances in training / match sim and now trial against oppo

Definitely some progression

I also liked Mark Keane’s quote about him , who’s seen him up and close

This has always been my biggest knock on him which they come at you left right and centre, there was a moment Friday night where I gave out an aaahhh because I saw it again, and I’ve been his biggest critique, but I thought it was a better effort

You did well to get any non-advert material on AA in a 5 minute listen!

I had noticed advert runs being a lityle longer and when opening the app always getting an ad to start off with. But hadn’t thought it as bad as the above suggestion. Until this morning when I got out of the car after my 11 minute commute and realised I’d not heard from the hosts the entire time. But just as I write this, I realised I jumped in at 7:30, so probably got 5 minutes of news.

I mean that one hand mark he took against Allir he had to track backward.

I'm glad you included the times he ran under the ball or avoided body contact in marking contests. Serious JJ vibes about his contested marking.

He will be a great running forward/ruck, but a strong marking pillar up forward he isn't.
Yeah, I thought it only fair to show the bad with the good. Maybe that is just a timing thing and he will learn from it.

I thought you would know what value a lot of the comments on BF are worth. Let's see how he progresses throughout the season. My guess is he will improve significantly.

You have to be very careful with RT on here

I bet he is top 10 league wide for contested marks per game played , will be an interesting stat follow this year

That will be a nice progression

I think the exciting bit is he’s nowhere near a finished product and has alot of improvement to come

Probably won’t be anywhere near his peak for another 3 years and will have some frustrating moments this year , no doubt

And I don’t dispute any of that in my criticism

Yeah I’m fine with your criticism of him

A couple of others not seeing that he COULD become an elite contested mark of competition has me dismayed

And also not noticing a progression which bigman has been talking about for weeks
I’m a fan and critique of his as I was of Jones
