How awesome is tahini and why is it only ever spoken of in hippie and vego circles.

Tahini is awesome as a base for a sauce. One thing I've learnt about vego cooking is that a good sauce/pesto/marinade elevates things to another plane.

I've had to reframe my stance on meat-as-main due to a vegetarian daughter and I have to say, it's been fantastic.

Vegetarian Chilli
Cauliflower & Chickpea Curry
Lentil, Kale, & Couscous Salad
Falafel Wraps with Tabouli & Hummus
Grilled Veg on the BBQ (Zucchini, Pumpkin, Broccolini, Capsicum) with Tahini Sauce
Kimchi Fried Rice
Stir Fried Tofu & Chinese Greens

All quite filling and easy to make. Still looking for more recipes to keep the other non-vegos interested.
I've got a good recipe for a baked ratatouille - I serve with couscous. Very easy to make (although time consuming) and tastes amazing

Tahini and yogurt at about 50/50 make a great simple crudité (or whatever) dip too.

Funny story about groceries...

Had ours delivered on Friday evening and part of the process is doing the check off to make sure we got everything we ordered. My two boys, 15 and 13 were tasked with this while Mrs B and I were relaxing in the lounge with a beer.

We hear the following exchange:

Son 1:"two [indecipherable mumbling] cucumbers"
Son 2: "what did you say?"
Son 1:"[more indecipherable mumbling]"
Son 2: [yelling loudly] "What the hell is a 'Lesbian Cucumber'?"
Son 1: [sheepishly] "I dunno that's what it says here"
Son 2: "That says 'Lebanese' there's no such thing as a 'Lesbian Cucumber'"

Mrs B glares at me in anticipation and says, "Don't you dare!"

Youse blokes mean there's more sauces than tomato sauces?

I walked past a cucumber laying in the middle of Murray St mall this morning. Either someone had dropped it on their way out of Woolies, or Perth city council has a stray cat problem.

Korean Fried Cauliflower ftw

We've taken our kids to Busan Baby a few times and this is now the first thing ordered. Amazing.
The Austral does a pretty good version as well.

A few years ago I spent an entire night going down the 'cats hate cucumbers' rabbit hole.
I was convinced it was a hoax but as far as I can tell it's legit. I don't have a cat so I can't test it.

Oh it's legit.

These are nice, I use chicken stock in place of the vegetable broth and poultry seasoning and it works fine. You can shape the mixture however suits to use with a variety of dishes rather than just burgers.

Tahini makes a great substitute for peanut butter in recipes when needing to be nut free for school. Super easy to make from scratch too so you can adjust the consistency to suit.

They especially don't like it if you don't lube it up first

Reminds me of that joke about cucumbers being good for your memory.

When your friend sticks one in your bum, you'll never forget it.

That's definitely getting added to the rotation.
