Because the daughter has issues, sometimes I have to spend extra time at preschool with her, rather than drop her off and running. I probably hang around more than any other parent.

I'm here now and all the other kids are starting to call me dad and think I'm a teacher. I don't think I'm comfortable with this, two is enough. Not ten.

But I've had fun playing Matchbox cars

How boring and sheltered must your life must be for getting splashed with water to be a 45 year standout.

It was the wettest she ever got on her honeymoon, or since.

Times were tough back then mate

Unless you liked nice cars and they just grew them on trees

I dunno they had magic mountain, splashdown, dazzleland, puzzle park, Monash, Greenhills, this marine land thing, plus every playground was made out of steel that could melt your skin off in summer, especially the slippery dips

Monash was the best. As a kid we went camping at Renmark every easter and always spent a day there. Guaranteed near death experiences every time

Riverland engineer Grant Telfer built that place out of the goodness of his heart and made it free for anyone. He died in December last year at the age of 90. BTW Grant designed and built the first motorised aid for disabled kids- which he trademarked under the name 'gopher' but didn't have the capacity to compete with cheap Asian imports who copied his idea.

By the 1980s, an estimated 300,000 people a year were visiting what had become one of South Australia's biggest attractions. It was forced to close in 1992 as he was unable to get public liability insurance for it. Re-opened a few year later without the scary bits and grass replacing the dirt but it was never the same. There were plans to build a statue of Mr Telfer on the site of the old playground but not sure if it happened.

Did he invent the gopher out of necessity due to all the injuries at Monash?

Am i the only one sad enough to be having a beer whilst watching the (underwhelming) moon
LOL. Yes we're part of the sad crowd.

But why is it underwhelming? Looks pretty cool to me. A bit high in the sky so it looks smaller than you would hope but that's just an optical illusion.

Your comment made me think of Mrs Richards:

Your probably looking at Mrs bomber Clifford's moon... Not the real moon.

She’s a darling but no, we’re both looking at the right moon.
