You're right. He's back here and Police charges (26 charges of sexual assault/touching) will be mentioned in a Sydney Local Court this morning.

Yeah. Jordan redifined Super Star Sports commercialism, but somebody like Messi or Rinaldo would be far more revered worldwide as Soccer is the most popular sport in all but a few countries.
Yea it just makes sense on figures alone, basketball ranks 7th in world sport popularity. Cricket 2nd.

Warne>>>Jordan lol

Not trying to be picky, but Dawn Fraser isn't even close to being on this list. Chamberlain either. No to Palmer too. Who is S Matthews? Which Erving are you referring to: Dr J?
Sir Stanley Matthews.
Yes - Dr J

Agree with some others that posters have nominated - McKay, Mercx, Comaneci, Viv Richards.

Lindrum dominated at a time when there weren't many great billiards players, albeit he was so dominant that they changed the rules several times to stop him!!!

1. Bradman

2. Jordan

3. Pele / Brady / Gretzky / James / Nicklaus / Sobers

4. C Ronaldo / Laver / Lindrum / Maradona / D Fraser / Phelps / Warne

5. Chamberlain / Messi / E Woods / Ruth / Court

6. S Matthews / Djokovic / S Williams / Erving / Palmer.

Off the top of my head! Probably missed a few out.
Phelps probably deserves to be in tier 1 next to Bradman. 23 gold medals. Next all time is someone with 9.
Gretzky probably deserves teir 2. Absurd achievements just not the popularity due to the sport.

Not sure why you would put Messi below Ronaldo. Most would put Messi as the better player, at worst on equal footing. Definitely not a tier below.

Not to mention a World Cup under his belt. Messi’s only shortcoming is that he looks like an assistant manager at Drakes. Ronaldo kills him for marketability and that definitely pumps up the public perception of him.

In the modern age of media & social media saturation Don Bradman's personality would be his biggest issue now.

Fans wanting selfies: Please remove your hand from my person!

Interaction etiquette: Don't speak to Don unless he initates conversation with you

Who knows it could’ve worked in his favour if he played it right. People love Kimi Raikkonen for being a cold smartarse prick but mainly because he channels it towards journos with stupid questions.

Problem with Don is he was like that with teammates lol and when he worked at the SACA in later life players were briefed on how to behave if he entered the dressingroom etc. a bit strange.

As a player its close and Messi might have the edge, as a success Messi maybe has it, but in terms of marketing and superstar factor in my eyes CR7 has always been a level above Messi

No doubt he was an odd cat but most people act differently when they’re being watched. Then again if he was still batting 100 maybe even social media wouldn’t have reigned in his god’s gift to the colonies ego.

The fact you used his marketing pseudonym instead of his name confirms this.

Messi on the other hand is a superstar despite looking like he should be working at the Post Office and that tells you just how bloody good he actually is.

Bradman says hi

Him and Gretzky are the only two that are stacks above statistically the best

They have their own category imo
Nothing will ever beat Jordan imo

Won every award possible for his time bar 1. From dunk comp scoring assists mvp all star Gold medal defensive poty. the only award he did not win was nba best sixth man.

3peat retired came back and 3peated again.

His impact on the sport will never ever be matched. The reach he had all over the world to places who had no courts.

The only person who i would talk about in the same circles as Jordan is Tiger.

But it's just an opinionated topic.

Seen better dribblers in Woolworths

Yeah but I'm only talking last decade. All those blokes I mentioned were in the 2010s. It's not like I'm harking back to the 80s or 90s.
I reckon they are as big. Especially if you look at the prices things like sports cards go for. I think you’re just not as interested as you were when you were younger.

Also due to real multi millions of dollars professionalism and sports science, the gap between the best and the rest is a lot smaller than it used to be. People like Jordan stood out due to their professionalism and dedication, that’s a minimum expectation these days

Off the top of my head I’d say:

Mahomes - Gridiron
Wemby - Basketball
Ohtani - Baseball
Haaland - soccer
DuPont - rugby
Clearly - league.

All of these players would have been superstars in previous generations too.

Eddie Mercx, Bolt and Flo Jo probably deserve a gig. Flo Jo's records are still standing, and she set them in the 80s (whether they were clean or not...)
I had never heard of Bradman until I moved to Australia. Botham was the only cricketer I could pick out of a line up and that was because of his charity walks.

Pele and Maradona definitely.

Jordan because of his shoes.

No tennis players.

All other sports are pretty irrelevant in the UK, soccer is so dominant it’s frightening.

Jamie Carragher probably more famous than Bradman
