It's OK to express a view that neither of the Brown brothers will make it.

Equally fine to not like them as players and to back that with stats. God knows they haven't set the world on fire.

Some of the vitriol directed at them as well as the insinuation that they are only getting games because of their surname is hateful and isn't OK regardless of the century.

It crosses a line. It puts the club forward as some inept and corrupt organisation and is insulting to the Brown family.

The key issue is where they are both at now...not over their total journeys. And stats dont show attitude and Brown needs to change his mindset. I dont know the kid but if he's timid, he needs to change. If he's scared of making a mistake, he needs to change.

I dont know about corrupt but in all organisations have favoured people who do better than the rest..... a son of the boss gets a prime position in the photocopy room. That's how the world works. The whole of Perth is run by people who went to the "best" schools in perth. They go to uni together etc etc etc...

Do I look and watch how Will Kelly is treated? Too right I do. His dad is well connected and has the ear of people at the club.

I dont think they give a stuff what a few people in a forum like this would write.

well he was a very committed worker and I could have used it when my commitment was questioned.... I mean we are our father's sons.... so we should all be judged by the deeds of our fathers

actually i made that point by picking silvagni. I know his history. I know he was halfway out the door. The question is whether Tyler has the intestinal fortitude to turn it around... or is he going to keep waiting on the outside of packs waiting for his opponent to get the ball so that he can tackle him.

I've always been comfortable that the people in charge put their love of the club above personal gain.

The club might have at times seemed like a boys club with Eddie at the helm but the intent has always been to bring in the best people in to help win flags.

We've come pretty damn close and got a few things wrong in the process. Corrupt? Never.

I think the level of expectation has been set. A player can take 5 years and still have limited impact on a game. And I'm not even talking about a consistent level of output.

So at the end of the year, the browns with 5 and 6 years on the list, a couple compromised by covid, will be judged and will set a standard.

Don’t think anyone is saying corrupt , that is a very strong accusation to be making , and way off the mark , more so , some have more favour than others , we are all guilty of preferring those we have more affinity or blood ties with , it’s human nature , where we must make such calls , we either remove ourselves from the process of the decision making , or we base our decision without fear or favour.

no i dont. Actually, I think players need time.

However, list spots are finite and if you have a slow turnover rate, then you have to be bloody good at picking talent.

I actually agree with playing the browns now. It's their turn. The others get their turn next year or the year after. I looked at the list. Who are the first picked to be delisted? Is it fair to pick chugg or murley and keep the browns?

But at some stage, you might find that players will take less time to show their wares. I think Ollie Henry after 18 months has shown more than the two browns. There might be others out there who will take a similar amount of time. To get them on the list, we need to drop players off.

I don't think player development is linear or predictable enough for it to be put through a timed cyclical system. I could be wrong, but I suspect when it comes to cutting or keeping the last couple on the list, it's down to the: "he might make it" guys. The question is "Tyler, the kid we'll get at pick 65 or that tall clumsy bloke who has been training with us hoping to get a DFA gig?"
