The right role player can have a huge difference on whether or not a side wins a premiership. Speak to Collingwood fans about Leigh Brown's influence or Cats fans about Rooke. 400k is a lot but sometimes you have to pays overs to get what you need and if true Hinkley clearly thinks he could make a difference.

He gives you the type of defensive coverage Westhoff gives you late in quarters all the time, and allows you to have another tall up forward when the Hoff drifts back. He's a consistent role player that applies pressure and works off his man really well. I have no doubt he'll be very good at Port.

I will be shattered as I think he is one of the players who actually has a heart and gives a real go. Has a penetrating kick, can play wing, 2nd/3rd tall back or forward and has above average pace. Not brilliant at anything but very good at a lot of things. Will look a superstar at times playing in a much classier and more talented team.

Monfries is a marking/goal kicking small who can play a lockdown role on a small rebounder and occasionally pinch hit in the midfield.
Goldsack is a third tall who can play either end and applies great defensive pressure at ground level.
Different animals completely.
Monfries is more akin to Elliott, and Goldsack to Westoff. They can easily and preferably play side by side.

I haven’t seen enough of him to make too much of a comment. Certainly appears to be a lot of money for a player who doesn’t stand out.
However I said pretty much the same thing when we recruited Matty White and I have been more than content with his output this season.

Alone he is not worth $400k but to Port Adelaide's structure he is. Means Hoff can stay up forward and Lobbe doesn't get flogged in the ruck as much.

Is Goldsack a FA? It is probably overs - however if you aren't paying anything to get him and you see a best 22 position - it seems a reasonable deal.

Well yeah. I guess what I meant is does he have any facts? At least the original article gave some sort of figures that may or may not be true. He just said it was rubbish and the wrong club. Haven't really heard of Brett Anderson. Does he have a history of getting it wrong or right?
