tips for this week....(perfect 5 last week)
bernards, xavs and blues to all have convincing wins over their respective opponents
marcellin and skobs a good one. both lost last week but battled hard. but ill go with marcellin because of the home ground advantage.
dela and rupo, also an interesting one. dela travel to the home of the ashes. rupo will be pumped for this one. but i just cant shy away from dela. they will continue my prediction of rupo losing 4 in row.
yes, no draws this week.
oh and st. bedes will probably keep on winning and most people will keep not caring.

Big Rock reckons:

St Bernards to teach the Blacks a lesson at the snake pit
Xavs too strong for Old Scotch
Uni Blues comfortable over Carey
SKOBS to bounce back and stay intack with the top half with Campbell to kick 5 before half time before sneaking off to the berwick inn
and finally the De La boys to overcome jet lag in Sunbury with my boy Kovarik to take a commanding lead in the goal kicking with a bag

good luck for the weekend fellas.. raaaa !!!!

Here r my tips for this week, im sure no one cares after my tips last week...

But anyway

Bernards by 10 goals with bear nation kicking another lazy 5

Xavs by a country mile

The Blues by 10 goals aswell

Marcellin and Skevs will be close but will go with marcellin at home

As suggested DeLa will be flying out to Sunbury late friday night to play on saturday, and then will be flying home on Saturday night celebrating the lesson they gave rupo

Looks to be a round of perfect tipping i reckon

St. Bernard's on top of the u/19 Premier table, havn't looked like losing. they have had 9 u/19's play A grade senior footy this year. 4 playing this week. DeLa also dominating, dont know how many kids they have had playing seniors. and i saw not one player from either side is in the rep squad. interesting

hmmm... dela and bernards are both undefeated teams in the premier division yet they have not one player representing them at state level.

shows how much of an idea the selectors actually have.

there is also the scenario of players not actually turning up for the trials, which i think is a problem.

Three teams still undefeated, but that will obviously change next week with the much-anticipated grand final replay between de la and xavs. Should be a ripping game with both sides posting comfortable wins again yesterday. Interesting to see uni blues won by 25 odd goals, did Carey show up?

why isn't Patty Lambert playing in the 19(1's) for Bernards ???
why hasn't Judda kicked a goal yet ??? think they have realised will only ever be a backman

From all reports on this site should the rep team should be STBM. They seem to be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

But seriously, who is reposonsible for picking the initial squads? I can understand if guys don't turn up to training but surely teams in premier should make a large % of players selceted.

No Gotch? No Kovva? and I'm sure we could all name a few from each side.

The big wigs at the home of football talk about draft opportunites for young footy players, well not the good ones anyway.

Rep footy is and always will be a disgrace until the selecters and the VAFA start taking it seriously.

Why wasn't Fridge Hartley picked in the side? Has not only been dominating down back but has been known to drink 30 cans on a number of occasions

The most dissapointing thing about the representative side this year is the sheer lack of players from the top premier teams. The fact that De La, Xavier and Bernards (three best sides by a long way) dont make up the majority of the side is a discredit to the whole exercise.

Senior players who are playing consistent good footy in A or B grade should also be rewarded. M.Murphy from SKOB is a great example of this, 5 last week and 3 important goals on the weekend and not in the team.
Bernards also have players consistently playing A grade seniors. Surely these boys are better options than someone occasionly getting in the best in D2!

Am i wrong in saying the Gotch is VFL listed? or is that a different Gotch listed at Williamstown?
If this is the case then i suppose players listed at VFL clubs dont get a mention into the rep side, as i am aware the freak Richard twins who (and please dont kick up a fuss, merely trying to raise a point) play for St Bedes, were not selected either.

I'm pretty sure that you're correct, in saying that VFL listed players aren't considered.

It would certainly explain a number of questionable ommissions if VFL listed players are ineligable.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the initial squad named after just 2 rounds? If that's the case, then it is unsurprising that some very good players have missed out.

tips for this week. perfect 5 again last week.
finally a game between the unbeaten teams. results for the next few weeks should be interesting.
scotch to take care of carey(but it will be close). i just don't think carey can handle A grade just yet. couple of good players but just dont have the depth.
uni blues to fix up rupo. cracking game. but of course uni will continue rupos losing streak to 4 in a row(as i predicted). uni will round out the top 4 come finals time i reckon.
marcellin over blacks. good contest but in junk time and at home marcellin will win by 5 goals.
dela to smash xavs. just think they are a better out fit and at waverly park will dominate all day.
finally bernards to beat skevs by 20 goals as a prematch to the rep game and ask the question why 10 players from the rep side arn't made up of dela bernards and xavs . tim 'kilos' raff to hold timmy o'rorke to 0 possesions.

Can someone from this thread explain to me why no players from the top 3 "undefeated" sides has made the rep side? To busy winning the comp or no real stars?
