Oh wow. Thought if anything would have gone Stricklands way if it wasn't a draw - with the final minute getting Strickland over the line. Hard fight to judge so no complaints though.

DDP deserved the win with the takedowns, was pushing forward most of the fight. His cardio has gotten a lot better

Izzy v DDP as the UFC 300 main event seems likely after what Dana just said. Just gotta make sure Adesanya is keen and DDP isn't hurt.

Had it 3-2 DDP but not many interpretations would surprise me. A bit too much of a chess match to be able to sell a rematch, which is harsh on Sean as few champions have lost their titles after such close fights.

Everyone is coming after your head.
Stricland deserves a rematch.
The level is so high and there is so much depth now. There are a tonne of good guys in each division, and those at the top are all getting better and better, with the chasers having to do the same. That's the last 4 MW title fights ending in a new champion. A LHW champ hasn't defended since JJ (aside from Jan over Izzy) either. These guys just need to constantly improve and there isn't a lot of time in a career to keep doing it once you climbed the mountain for the first time.

Really makes you appreciate Izzy, Usman and Volk's 5 defenses each in recent times.

Nah, no rematch. Close fight, but not exactly a classic. Instant rematches should be reserved for long reigning champions.

I thought Sean fought a pretty average fight tbh.

Certainly not his come forward and dictate self

Right result just
He looked great in Round 1 behind that jab and the teeps. The jabs were money the whole fight, but you need more than that to stop a bull like DDP.

I was surprised he didn't kick DDP on his lead leg.

Yeah DDP wasn't getting his head off centre and as a result was copping jabs for fun. Dricus is tough and strong as hell though, he seems to bully his way over things like technique and just get it done. I think Volkanovski appears more skilled but Dricus is similar in that they probably don't have a long highlight reel but they grind out wins.

DDP waa striking a bit like Strickland vs Izzy. Just countering every time, not pretty or accurate shots but just power. Didnt take long to earn Seans respect and really sapped his forward momentum. Other part he does really well is mask his strike with his entry, its very hard to predict what he will throw. He can generate power with unorthodox strikes from strange angles.
