Not my final and ultimate team, but how I would like us to structure up.

It was a lot harder then I though it would be.

:::

Thornton - Jamison - Armfield
Carazzo - Bower - Russell

Simpson - Mclean - Gibbs
Warnock - Judd - Murphy

Yarran - Waite - Lucas
Betts - Henderson - Kreuzer

Hampson - Grigg - Joseph - Hadley

:::

Lots of choices. I went with three ruckmen, because it's awesome.

Lucas and Yarran on the flanks delivering to the three leading big men.

Hadley and Grigg coming off the bench to help with the rotations. Joseph too, but he'll resume his tagging role in 2010, most likely.

I could be persuaded to put Robinson in over Hadley.

Fairly similar to mine but I ideally want to see Waite at FF, at least to see how he goes with Hendo in a pocket, and Setanta busting packs at CHF. Kreuzer needs to be the number one ruck which means that Warnock doesn't get a gig unless he proves himself in our jumper. Hampson is too exciting to leave out altogether so gets a bench spot. Walker half forward flank, Carrazzo to continue playing that negating half forward role. Thornton at CHB for now with Bower rotating between back pocket and half back flank depending on matchups.

What on earth is the point of playing Henderson at CHB in order to play Austin at FF? That's like viciously assaulting Peter, spitting on him and then taking his wallet in order to pay Paul.

I'm going with:

Thornton, Jamison, Armfield

Russell, Bowyer, Scotland

Simpson, McLean, Gibbs

Kreuzer, Judd, Murphy

Yarra, Setanta, Walker

Betts, Waite, Henderson

Hampson, Joseph, Carrazzo, Grigg.

All bets are off if Warnock shows a bit though...will ahve to find room for all three ruckmen, which might see setanta or Hendo to the pine and Grigg out of the side.

You've got it upside down. Jamo will start the NAB cup at Full Forward! :thumbsu: Too many shoulder injuries at fullback. Plus it gives Bower and T-Bird a chance to work on their offensive sides. Yarran could do with some hardening up in the backline too.

I like the idea! :footy:

Betts and Walker suspended?

The Cats and Saints have it right with two KPF plus medium and small forwards.

We should ape their structure because our midfield is our strength.

Wouldn't mind swapping Grigg for Robinson, Garlett and even Lucas if needed.

Russell, Bowyer, Scotland.
If Stevens retired due to injury, why would we bring back Bowyer and his broken neck? :p

Very close to mine. Same though process structurally.

Armfield Jamison Bower

Russell Thornton Joseph

Gibbs McLean Simpson

Carrazzo O'hAilpin Walker

Betts Waite Henderson

Kreuzer Judd Murphy

Hampson Scotland Grigg Yarran

Jamo will start the NAB cup at Full Forward!

Smarty pants! Anyway...

B Thornton Jamison Browne
HB Grigg Bower Armfield
C Gibbs McLean Carrazzo
R Kreuzer Judd Murphy
HF Simpson Henderson Betts
F Walker Waite Yarran
Int Hampson Joseph Austin Russell

I'd start Waite at FF, since his mobility may be restricted after the knee op. Henderson can roam free like JK did. Hopefully that's enough talls.

This is a fair point as you can confuse things having 3 talls...but the Saints have the dominant CHF in the comp, which really opens things up for the rest of their forward line. Unfortunately we don't have that luxury and given the relative inepxerience of our tall forwards, we might need some flexibility.

What I like about having Henderson and Waite deep (and is something Bluebear brought up in the other thread), is it gives you a two pronged attack - one with the body and lead, the other with the athleticism. You then given Irish or Kreuzer or whoever you've got up there carte blanche to lead up the ground, crash packs and generally cause a ruckus.

If we're going with two, I would prefer to see Henderson deep and Waite across HF.

If Stevens retired due to injury, why would we bring back Bowyer and his broken neck? :p

LOL of the highest order. :thumbsu:

And after taking him from being a forward and training him as a backman for the last couple of years, only to be put forward again?

If you take TG's board, swap Aussie & Hendo back, take out Walker and put Carrots there, and Robbo on the bench, I'd be happy with that.

FOLL: Warnock, Judd, McLean

I/C Yarran, Hampson, O'hailpin, Carrazzo

Unlucky Armfield, Austin, Robinson, Hadley, Garlett they'll be called upon throughout the year, No room for Houla and Fisher these days

Am liking the thought of the three ruckman playing all at once and one permanently hanging in the forward line, hopefully Kreuzer can spend the majority of his time causing havoc in the forward fifty, especially with Warnock being able to shoulder the around the ground stuff. Am liking the look of the unpredictable forward line on paper. With the supply they'll be getting the names there are capable of kicking multiple goals each. Its tall enough to cause havoc and quick and witty enough to make defenders think.

Russell jamison thornton
Gibbs henderson bower
Simpson mclean walker
Garlett waite robinson
Betts o'hailpin yarran
Kreuzer joesph judd
Warnock murphy lucas carrazzo

Our defence- jamison, thornton and bower go without saying. Imo russell on last years form is our no.1 small defender. we also need a good kick that's why I have gibbs on the hbf. I like to see okeeffee take this role down the track . We also need a gaint defender henderson.

Our ruck- kreuzer is our no.1 ruckmen on past proformances and warnock is just a head of hampson

Our mids- walker would be more dangerous on the wing than forward or back. Joesph needs to be in the center square as our no.1 tagger

Our forwards- o'hailpin at ff will bigger, stronger and harder than any defender. Waite has all the skills of an A grade chf. Betts, yarran, robinson and garlett will be the mostest defecive small forward unit in the comp

Our bench- the cats start selwood on the bench so with there first interchange they have talant coming straight on to have an impact which is why I have murphy on the bench plus he will be harder to tag. Carrazzo is our best utility. Lusas has pace, skills and a great footy brain.

Yeah because Mark Austin has been so successful at Full Foward so far, hasn't he ???

And automatically slotting in Henderson at CHB when he has yet to play a game for the club, and no room for our best CHF option in O'Hailpin is ridiculous ...
If anything, whilst he is being eased back into the side, I"d still have Waite playing at CHB.

Also I disagree with you putting in Andrew Walker in a foward pocket, even though his erratic kicking means he is probably best suited to being an half back flanker/back pocket type of player ... (in fact, I'd probably have him coming off the bench to make him earn his stripes once he returns from club suspension)

I think that there is too many unpredictiable/untried elements in your best team, and considering it's a restructure of the team with Fev's departure, the Match committee should still try and retain as much of the continunity from last season as possible.

and no room for our best CHF option in O'Hailpin is ridiculous ...

O'hAilpin is not the best option at CHF, Waite is. He is the one with the best results at the position, the most talented we have available to stick there and has already mentioned in his interviews that it's where he will be playing. Good arguments can also be made that Kreuzer and Henderson are better options than O'hAilpin but they will probably be in other positions.
