How do you know James?

Confirmed. All U19 Premier (and Div 1 Senior ) are being postponed for a week due to the state of Central Reserve.

This is an absolutely shameful effort by the VAFA. Everyone has known about the state of that particular ground for weeks and for an organisation of this size not to have contingencies in place is a very very poor effort.

Could not agree more!! Surely they could at least transfer the games to the Sunday and use one of the grounds which was used on the Saturday?

I agree the VAFA should be embarrassed by what has taken place. This decision will also have a large impact on the make up of teams. Xavs no Goss next week, Beauy would be laughing about that.

Allows Stean to possibly play now.

And if Xavs can get through, they have Goss for the prelim providing Xavier 1's can beat Collegians.

Schedule changes have been forced due to the treacherous state of Central Reserve.

Central Reserve has been declared unfit for football due to mud that is more than ankle-deep in places.
The Division 1 and 1 Reserve first semi finals which were to have been played at Central Reserve have been moved and are now scheduled at Monash University on Sunday. (The Div 1 and Div 1 R second semi finals will be played as scheduled at St Bernard's on Saturday)
Due to the lack of another suitable ground, the VAFA regretfully advises that all U19 Premier fixtures will be pushed back a week.
The Grand Final for U19 Premier will now be played on Saturday 18 Setember.
Clubs have been advised of these changes and delays to these finals series. We thank clubs for their patience during this rapidly-changing state of affairs.

-VAFA Website.

Rumour is De La Salle Football Club is lodging legal action with the league. Club officials and players are furious with the decision. The club is seeking compensation in the form of thousands of dollars. The club had booked the Crown Palladium Room for U/19 grand final celerations and the cancellation fee is a small fortune.

Good one. We will leave those flash venues up to the cashed up APS types. Everyone at De La realises that they have to get there first and at the moment all 4 sides are even money. But.....the postponement means that the GF is now during the school holidays. How many families, coaches, officials or even players might have had had holidays booked or other plans locked in. Unlikely any player would miss a GF but what about the inconvenience to family members and other costs? The money hungry grubs at the VAFA could not bare to move just 2 games to a venue without a fence in order to maximise their revenue. The most disappointing thing about all this is that it seems everyone has known about the putrid state of that ground for weeks yet the VAFA notify the clubs via email late on Thursday afternoon. There was no consultation with any of the clubs to gauge the possible impact of this decision and no discussion about alternatives. Pi$$ poor effort by the VAFA.

The best post of the year Rooster!!
Could not agree more - have been asking the same question all day!!!
What would it cost them...a few grand??? Few hundred people at $10 a pop.....pathetic! I'm sure OX would pay those few K out of their own pockets to have Goss available!!!!!!!
VAFA run like a dictatorship - remind you of any other footy league?????
Players were saying Central was unfit for play 7 weeks ago and VAFA make the decision Thursday??????? Woeful. If this was a club making this big an error they would be threatened with huge fines or worse. We pay thousands in affiliation fees and this is the thoughtless, uncompromising, nearly useless administration we get!
Hit every VAFA administrator you see with the hard questions about this decision!!!!!!

As Rooster 24 pointed out, for the two teams that do play off in the grand final some players and their families will have holidays booked during that week. And if IIRC Monash and Deakin have their inter semester breaks during that week.

So put simply VAFA will have ****ed 2 teams over very badly.

Ohhh, poor Brickster...

If your lucky enough to play in a Grand Final then you just cop it on the chin... Scotch won't make it anyway so i'd keep the trip planned.

sharks are on the prowl, i believe they could be the surprise packet of the finals series this year. get on them
youuuuuuuuuuuu dont like that :thumbsu:

No shit, Aus Uni Games over in perth starts the week later, almost clashed. even so a grandfinal is a grandfinal sort it out. will be beauy v de la anyway the other two teams can continue with their plans. tom puck humphrey has the best player for the finals series wrapped up.

Tips for this weeks finals:
De La to be just too good for OS in the end. Will be closer than most expect. I think the extra week off will suit OS. De la by 15pts

Xavs to beat Beauy in a close one! I think Xavs style of play is more suited to finals footy. The sharks free attacking style is dangerous as they can score quickly however Xavs should win enough ball in the middle and their defense should hold firm enough to win by a kick. Xavs by 6pts.

Good luck to all players!
Cheers
Nasi

Sharks to win with the best forward line in the league.

what a smart comment!

i think todays results speak for themselves, when times get tough drilling in the wet those pack on bogans have no other option but to turn to there players and try to start fights cause they know they have choked up something special

De La Salle Vs Scotch by 50 points - De La Way too strong and Scotch coming into the game with little momentum.

Xavier Vs Beaumauris by 10 points - Xavier will be too weak mentally and physically and their attractive brand of football will come unstuck while Beauy are coming into the game with huge momentum after winning 8 in a row and should win this as they are just a better all round team and don't rely on any individuals to fire.

Top call.

What cleaning service did that E.Maas guy use on that Dickinson bloke??? It would have to be one of the greatest floggings ever dished out by a defender.

Also what gym do the Beauy guys use? I have never seen a team with so many 'tuff' players? The Xavs were shitting themselves..........it was that funny that I was almost rushed to hospital with a lol attack.

Thankfully the game resumed before it became a serious concern.

yep xavier won, (so did de la) but how good were xavs!!!! (de la werent bad) XAVS in great form! (de la through to the granny)

Yes its great that they won but the jobs only half done lads. Need to get off the internet and worry about getting through to the big one. No1 remembers a team that won an elimination final and then lost after that....worry about the sherrin
