U19 Under 19's North Divison 1

#2 for OLD TRINITY is Robert Humannn and he is easily the best player in the under 19's. Absolutely dominated on the weekend I heard. And as for their lack of players in the midfield, your spot on there. Their 3 best midfielders are playing in the seniors. Pacconi, Coulsen-Hoffacker and Leetham are all quality on-ballers and if they come back to the 19's to play finals, they will all start there. The on-ball combination of Humannn, Pacconi, Coulsen-Hoffacker and Leetham would murder any other midfield in North 1. That said, it's only round 6 and it's still really early. But I would love to watch banyule vs old trinity on a dry day with all those players mentioned above playing, would be a cracker of a game. CLUNE SIGN OFF

sounds like banyule vs. OT was a cracker, shame i missed it.

just interested to get some thoughts on the strengths/ weaknesses of each team and the type of footy they play (i.e run and carry or long kicking)?

Banyule have only had 19's since 2004. Having first hand experience I can say that the 19's were not encouraged to play senior footy as the Former Under 19 coach (who went on to coach the seniors for 2 years) had his own agenda. He was not worried at all about the success of the senior club but was only worried about personal glory.

old timer and others...
i've been down at the club for 12 years and played in the 19's 05' grand final win. I can promis you that during that year we had 19 individual players from the 19's play at least 2 senior games, with 4-5 playing around 10 games and 2 blokes that played the whole season there. So in reply to your statement..i cant see how they were not encouraged. ???
Its just that the 1's were getting smashed and 19's dominating so most wanted to play in a winning side. Yes they could have put most of their 19's team in the 1's but then they would not have a unders team. Point of that is?
They got relegated to D2 as most of those 19's go elsewhere-different schools Marcellin etc and to a rival club Macleod.
Now they are 5-1 and seem to have created better bond between 19's-seniors

Will they come back to play finals though? I don't think they can play all year in the seniors then just come back to 19's in the finals because the seniors arent playing.

just quietly, i reckon we should stop worrying about who and who isn't coming back to play finals cos let's face it, that's about 11 weeks away and for all we know the final four could look totally different by then. it seems that's what people spend most of the time talking about when really it's irrelevant at the moment. we should be talking about the good form of camberwell recently who have got their hardman Cramer back in the side and with his buddy Huddo showing some form, look for them to be a top for side. Or the fact that Ivanhoe pumped a side by 12 goals in the wettest day of footy in while. don't get caught up on a bunch of players who may or may not play cos it just makes for boring reading. i'd rather caveman or yulas spoke up about the game on the weekend at least then it's relevant, or if bulleen are going to get better as the grounds get worse and their little hard men are going to put bigger teams under the pump. bw2.

hot tip you seem the educated type and i take it by your comment you were at the game first of all who were you rooting for and do you agree that banyule are much harder hitting than trinity

thecave - in response to your comment, i saw about half the game, and i can say that banyule were a little harder, however not all that much. from what i saw, OT were more than happy to put themselves on the line when necessary, but i must admit that more often than not, a banyule player was first to the ball. great game tho, it must be said!

couldn't agree more with bw2. stop talking about individual players who might come back and play. it really does make for really boring reading. worry about forms of teams and sometimes forms of players, but worry about the players actually playing in the competition of under 19's. no one gives 2 hoots about the 19's playing seniors. especially not this early in the season.

Well, i was at the game on satdy and didn't really go into the game favouring anyone; it must be said that banyule/viewbank have been severly underrated by everyone in the competition and seem to be making quite the impression with their hardness at the pill. From what i saw on the weekend; this was quite true after quarter time after they realised they weren't going to walk away 'easy' winners. By the same token, OT seemed to be over arrogant and fuelled the banyule boys to hit even harder. Great game in really difficult conditions. How'd you find the game CAVE? where you playing or watching? playing im assuming?

Fantastic game of footy to watch on Saturday at the trinity sports fields...would have been interesting if it was dry. How do you think these teams would match up against the might of ivanhoe? anyone?

Just wondering if any one from Old Essendon, or anyone from teams who have played them, can give some insight into their situation. They seem to be at least competitve each week for a few quarters before letting the games slip away from them.

Is fitness an issue? Lack of depth? How will they fair against Manningham and Parade in the coming weeks....?

Definitely think there is a lack of depth and fitness...as a keen observer of this league, i believe that old essendon are slightly down on numbers this year. Although i have only seen them play once this year, they looked a solid team with good depth and size last year, maybe too many top age players last year. Not entirely sure though. Good luck to them

old essondon are not bad. i think depth might be a problem, but they have some good players with top skills even in the wet.

old essendon are not as bad as their ladder position indicates. lack of depth appears to be the biggest issue however i'd tip them to win against mannigham and parade

also, out of OT and banyule which team is most likely to challenge ivanhoe? i'd be tipping OT but i havnt really been following either teams progress...

problem with OEG is that they are a new team.

approximately only 6 players that have players under 19s there.
the rest are new.
they should come good towards the end of the season. although it might be too late wit only 4th position available for most teams.

definitely have been competing...lets hope they can string some wins and challenge over 4 quarters.

definitely not as strong depth wise as last year. fitness wise could be an issue as well.

any standard players to reconcile?? anyone with a view as to whether the too think their second half of the season will be much more improved.??

As crawf999, correctly pointed out...old essendon are down on their depth...with all new kids, i reckon they are doing pretty well, just toughing it out like OEG always do. I think they will come good end of season but finals would be a tough ask. who do you think will snaffle that fourth spot, benchwarmer2, your tip would seem to be Camberwell?

thankyou, and itys great to here someone actually say for once that we are any good cose all ive heard all year is how were crap. Also we never said that trinity were not hard they are very hard probably the hardest weve played so far but we strive ourselves to be that hardest team because we dont have those classy players. we work well as a team and thats why were doing OK atm. Also when trinty went into the huddle at qaurter time they were all talking themselves up and like someone said before it only fuelled us to hit harder. but in saying that great bunch of blokes afta the game cant wait for our next encounter down at "THE CAVE"

Yulas19,

Which ground to you play on, the front or the back?

How is the front oval standing up after its reseeding during summer?

How will you go against OI?

Spargo from OI wont be playing finals i heard he is going to the nothern territory for there dry season if OI seniors don't make finals, in an attempt to get on an AFL list next year.
alot of interest in him after the VAFA website had him as the 31st player in the comp ahead of recently afl listed players such as Marty pask and brett voss.
if hes so good as a U/19 why isnt he playing VFL or for the oakleigh chargers, not a hard worker?

based on how teams hav faired so far i reckon fourth spot will be fought out between camberwell (currently 4th), bulleen/temp (5th) and old carey (6th) with camberwell taking it... its tough to pick at this point of the season, especially with the form of teams varying from week to week

how do u guys think old carey will go against camberwell this w/e?

also any thoughts about how banyule and OT will go wen they clash with OI?

i think that Old Carey will win this one; but it will be close.
They seem to have had an up and down season but capable to sticking it to all the teams except for the blowout in round 2 against Banyule/Viewbank. Camberwell look okay but i heard that their best player is a soccer player who's only ever played 5 games of footy.

Any thoughts?

Who do you think camberwell's best player is? I think camberwell will get up. They have been far more consistant then carey. And have played better against the top sides.

Just thought I would get in early with this weeks tips. After checking the ninemsn weather forecast Saturday is set for a beautiful sunny top of 18.

ROUND 7 TIPS

OLD CAMBERWELL VS OLD CAREY *MATCH OF THE ROUND*
This will be an absolute cracker of a match. Pity that Gornon Barnard Reserve is a shite hole at the moment. Still, much talk on Old Camberwell pressing hard for 4th spot. Best players from last week who Old Carey will have to watch is Hudson and Cramer. Both excellent players in their respective teams. For Old Carey, hard to not be tight on Macready-Bryan who is easily their leading goalkicker. My tip is Old Carey over Old Camberwell in HERNIA_KING's match of the round.

FITZROY REDS VS MANNINGHAM SHARKS
A pretty done and dusted result here. Fitzroy had a hard loss to Bulleen-Temp by 5 points and should have won that game in the wet. I expect Fitzroy to bounce back hard and absolutely smash the shite out of Manningham.

OLD PARADIANS VS OLD TRINITY
Again, another done and dusted result. Have not seen Old Paradians ground so not sure of the surface as to who might have the advantage. Trinity are a top 3 team at the moment and with the likes of Humann, Jessop, Howell and Robertson all solid in their roles I see OP getting a pasting from OLD T's. As stated before, if they are to have any kind of sniff they need to shut down OLD T's midfield players, especially Humann.

BANYULE/VIEWBANK VS OLD ESSENDON
This should be a good game. As much as most people will expect Banyule to win, I am going to tip Old Essendon in an upset. OEG tend to play well under enormous pressure so I am hoping they can upset Banyule.

BULLEEN TEMPLESTOWE VS OLD IVANHOE
Nothing needs to be said here, but I will anyway. I was talking to ELSPARGO and DELMONTEEE tonight and they cannot believe that OLD IVANHOE are not in Premier. I agreed with them, they are the best team in the competition and will absolute demolish Bulleen Temp. They will have no idea what has hit them. From my reports from some Old Camberwell players they are the best team in every position. Midfielders work extremely hard, forwards present and kill the goals and defenders rebound extremely efficiently. Good luck Bulleen, your going to need it.

Good luck to all games this weekend. Hopefully will be a beautiful round (weather wise) as opposed to the crap dished out by Melbourne last weekend. Good luck to all.

HERNIA_KING

Sounds Pretty good Hernia_King.

Camberwell over Carey. an extremely hard one to tip, will be a cracking match. But i think Camberwell will just get over the line.

Fitzroy over manningham fairly comfortably

Parade to lose to Trinity. not much to say about this one

Banyule over Essesdon. Will be a very close game in my opinion. had it been at OEG's home ground I may have picked differently

Bulleen to lose to Ivanhoe. Again not much to say about this one

Goodluck

I am not quite sure of who their best player is, but i agree with the winch...Camberwell will be far superior to Carey despite their recent patch of good form. If Camberwell are tough at the footy, the fairies of Carey will be crushed like they were against the strength of Banyule. Carey are soft from my observations this year, and even though they have strung together a few games they are in for a reality check. Camberwell by at least 5 goals in Hernia's match of the round
