Charlie Dixon not getting free kicks is his own fault.

He constantly initiates the wrestle.

If he would just move towards the ball and take it at its highest point, or lead and double back for a over the back mark he would get a truck load of frees for holding and chopping the arms and front on contact from panicked defenders

Eddie McGuire is a good commentator.

(popular opinion: He is a bad everything else)
He's a good commentator in Vic v Vic or non-Vic v non-Vic games. He's an atrocious commentator for Vic v non-Vic games.

Id like to lose the “we exist to win premierships” motto and the 5 year plan that has us “winning multiple premierships”. It has a whiff of carltons “there’s something brewing” campaign. Before proclaiming ourselves, let’s achieve something in this league. And until that time let’s employ the Japanese method - an outer humility matched with an unwavering inner resolve

As I said on the other thread,

“What if I told you the club’s real identity crisis doesn’t involve guernseys or emblems, but the paralysis caused by a contradictory mentality that revels in “cleaning out the no-hopers”, “exist[ing] to win premierships” and “mediocrity doesn’t live here”; only to come up with every excuse under the sun to justify incessant failure — “little club”, “tough competition”, “someone has to lose” — whenever the rubber hits the road?”

Setting high goals or even approaching success through a lens of entitlement is fine, as long as you genuinely believe it, live it and pursue it.

Too often it’s just hollow lip service to placate the more militant/active/legacy sections of the supporter base, with failure rarely if ever addressed, let alone mitigated, in reality.

They have addressed the failure. But too many in charge have thought that just working hard is the solution, when its working smarter than others that is the real solution.

Working hard even working harder than others means you do ok. But working smarter than others so you are more effective and efficient than your opposition is how you get to number 1, not just in footy, but in every type of market.

Reckon the club doesn't honour Bruce Weber as much. He's the reason we're in the AFL and he barely gets a mention outside of documentaries and books about our history.

Things like statues and getting a stand in your name should be reserved for legends of the club and he deserves one of those for what he did for Port.
