The "left" needs to wake the **** up.

For the best part of 4 decades, the MO of left wing parties in the West has seen them encroach ever harder to the right.

They prioritise economic policy, not social policy.
They champion business and the rights of business owners at the expense of workers.
They do this, yet all the while claiming to be "the side that supports the battlers" (Hi, Albo/Rudd/Gillard....all the way back to Hawke and Keating who laid the foundation for this by wrecking the union accords in the 80's)

We usually follow the US after a few years, so I think Pinkenba Pete Dutton will comfortably sweep to power.

And what happens is the "left", after getting pantsed, figure that the solution is to creep ever further to the right.....

And you lot wonder why people vote for a megalomaniac like Trump.....you wonder why the ACTU is a toothless body that simply does PR.
You wonder why the union movement is now an arm of organised crime....

Because the "battlers" have figured out that there is NO political party that stands for them against rampant oligarchs, multinational conglomerates and that the "rule of law" is selective in its application, easily repulsed by a bigger chequebook.

Like I said elsewhere, I'm a proud Socialist.

I haven't voted Labor in Australia, ever. Because as far back as 1988, it was clear that Aus Labor/Dems/UK Labour etc etc were simply Republican/Tory/Liberal-lite.

But hey, go and talk about identity politics and all the other rubbish you like - because so long as you are bashing each other over pronouns, and not unionising and fighting for your economic equality, it's just going to get worse and worse.

Trump has Alzheimer. His father had it and it's pretty clear he's declining himself.

Everything he says and does is going to be scrutinised until he either dies, gets dumped via the 25th Amendment or manages to get to the end of his term. Alternatively, his family will basically do exactly what Trump did to his own father... which is construct a fake office and let him think he was actually going to work. I think the war mongers and neocons are in both parties.
They should of gone through a party debate process before installing Harris. And Republicans were smart. What pulls bigger numbers? MSN or podcasts these days? They targeted their potential voters pretty cleverly. And “but Trump” isn’t a policy. Particularly when they already had him for 4 years.
And, let’s be honest, it was a choice between 2 ordinary candidates. They went with the devil they knew.

The Democrats couldn't afford this given how late it was that Biden decided to withdraw from the race. They were already campaigning and to basically vacate the campaign while a bunch of them campaigned to registered Democrats about which person should then campaign against Trump would waste time the Democrats didn't have.

There will definitely be a primary for 2028 though.

One thing the Republicans have going for them is that they absolutely know what they believe is right, and they're fixated on it. Will do anything to get there; play extraconstitutional games with supreme court nominees; fillibuster until the cows come home, leave and and embark on an 1000 year voyage guided by compassion; tighten voter registration laws in low socioeconomic counties to deliberately make it harder for poor people to vote democrat; redistrict like ****ing bonkers to allow them to lose the popular vote yet still win the election. They will do what it takes for them to win, and damn the ****ing torpedos.

The Democrats have talked bloody murder about Trump seeking to end American democracy. They've spoken about what he intends to do.

Well, if you truly think he is going to end democracy, the "peaceful transfer of power" isn't the right thing to do, is it?

Let's see if they believe their own rhetoric or if they were bullshitting the entire time. They believe it, they become everything the republicans are as far as obstruction goes, as far as coups go, because it's the right thing to do.

They let things happen, they didn't truly believe it, and never did.
