Bring in mandatory voting and that 48& would fall closer to 25-30%, imo

I agree that covid-19 was more historically significant, but in my view it was less shocking because it was a slow burn and I'd known for a while (from books and documentaries) that a pandemic was coming sooner or later.
Today will either put a woman in the White House for the first time, or unleash a known renegade president with near-total legal immunity.
I remember coming home from a shift around midnight and flicking the TV on to see the first tower on fire, then seeing the second plane hit. Couldn’t believe what I was seeing and had to tell someone so called my parents up who were sleeping and then they couldn’t go back to sleep.

Yeah possibly true. But I've always had a similar view as Socrates - absolute democracy is a bit overrated.

His fear is that uninformed people are more susceptible to manipulations of those who are with ill-intent. A great rhetorician who has no intention of being a leader but to fatten their wallet, can easily sway the masses to vote for them."

I think this is the first Political/non-AFL GDT.
Hardest election to call in years with so many battleground states up for grabs. If you put a gun to my head, I'd say Trump should win, but it's hard to tell how much that's because of my personal news feed from the US. It's impossible to judge if you're getting impartial information any more.
If you watched Fox, you'd swear Trump was the next coming of Christ and the angels will be down to vote for him soon.
If you watched MSNBC, you'd swear Trump was a befuddled geriatric Hitler with slightly less amphetamines.
One thing which is consistent across the last few elections is that Pennsylvania will look like it's going towards Trump, he'll be ahead because they count the rural voters faster and they count postal votes nearly last which are usually pro-Dem. It'll trigger those who are certain of the rapture to start gloating and placing bets.
If Harris hits $4, based on early results in PA, like Biden did, it'll be worth a swing.

It’s actually relatively easy to tell if the news source is impartial. Pretty much all of them are padding a rhetoric angle, it’s just best to be a tad cautious about them. I like the free press on YouTube hosted by Barry Weiss. I found it quite even handed. Check it out mate.

In my view (and I don't think I'm alone), lower socioeconomic status makes one more liable to support Trump and the Republicans.

Yep, lower socioeconomic status = lower education = easier to lie to.

A quick glance and I'm familiar with most of the authors. Looks more like a collection of both extremes rather than any actual centrist, factual reporting.
Have people forgotten when there used to be reporters and journalists who didn't need to take sides to report on policy and facts?
Now it's 2 sentences on the policy and 16 paragraphs on what the policy means for the electorate or polling in a swing state amongst certain demographics.
