Not sure I agree with this. With the current EV system, a vote for Harris in say Texas is a vote essentially unheard. Conversely, a GOP vote in California.

You've got a few things, the EC system plus no preferencing in votes means you effectively waste it if you don't vote for a major party.

At least here you can take a flyer on an Independent, and if they don't get up your preference rolls down.

You can't just do shit, you need (same as here) to pass bills via the House and the Senate. The Democrats control the House but not the Senate.

A good example is the border security bill, it was presented by a Republican. The Democrats supported it. Then Trump wanted to use border security to hammer the Democrats with, so the Republicans flipped and didn't support the bill they raised. So the bill didn't pass.
