That's a disgrace.
Federally nothing will change, it's up to the states. That's why I dont think it's an 'issue' if that makes sense
But why should it be up to the states? Because you think it should be? Because Trump says it should be, which is mostly because he wants to sit on the fence for political reasons. For around five decades it wasn’t a state issue. It was judged to be a right of all women in the country. That was changed by an unelected and unrepresentative Supreme Court that has lost its way.

Especially where many of the states’ legislatures are distorted by gerrymandering and voting restrictions.

And some of the states have tried to interfere in national abortion access by suing to stop the abortion drug - used for most early abortions - being distributed by mail. That would affect women all over the country. So far their efforts have failed but they’ll keep on trying.

It’s also relevant that the young Texas woman who recently died didn’t die because she couldn’t get an abortion. She didn’t want or need an abortion. She needed medical treatment while having a miscarriage.

There are two slightly different issues at play. One is the right of a woman (and her family) to have autonomy over reproduction. The other is the right to essential healthcare for issues arising from reproductive complications. In their effort to suppress the former, some states have trampled all over the latter.

Some cases in the last few days I could post quite a few more but you get the point

A woman died after being told it would be a ‘crime’ to intervene in her miscarriage at a Texas hospital

A pregnant teenager died after trying to get care in three visits to Texas emergency rooms
