A grade clubs (and umpires) rejoice as Scotch get over St Bernard’s in extra time sparing us all a trip to the snake pit for another year.

Geez. Reckon Bernies will sign Riley on for another season?

Why not? Just 30 seconds from a GF and a return to A grade. A few decent sides in B grade this year and an immediate return was never a certainty.

On that note any chance that a Monash, Fitzroy, Ajax, Mazenod etc can break the seemingly never ending up and down yo yo of between A & B. Majority of clubs that have been relegated in recent times seem to re-appear within a year or 2 (UBlues, OB, Scotch, STMT, Beauy etc). While it be great to see some new faces I would not back against one or both of Blacks or Bernies playing A grade in 2019.

So it's down to 2. SKOBS obviously short priced favourites.

Heard a stat on the weekend that Uni Blues have now lost 8 of their last 9 finals. Anyone know that for sure? That's a big monkey to get off the back.

On the other hand, Colls sure know how to get to the "Big Dance"..

I see Bede Mahon won the Woordrow last night. How often would it have happened that one of the relegated teams would have the Woodrow medal winner in their side?

How can a player whose team only won 5 games and gets relegated possibly win the Medal..........
Makes the award worthless.

The umpires obviously didn't read the criteria outlining that the best player/s must come from the winning team.

Maybe the Blacks wouldn't have won a single game without him.

Terrible comment FF.

Straight on the attack you go. Don't think there would be too many on this forum that would argue Mahon not a worthy recipient.

Your argument's as flat as your footy is.

I don't think many would argue that he was a worthy recipient if the team had won more games. He's certainly a great player, but i hope when the actual vote counts come out online, that he didn't poll a whole heap of B.O.G's, as that would look extremely odd. It's a bit more palatable if he accumulated a whole lot of 1s and 2s, rather than a bunch of 3 vote games, considering the lack of success for Blacks this year.

Would you consider him Blacks best player this year?

Far and above. Curnow very good but still Mahon IMO.

BOG in last two rounds. Round 17 when Blacks beat Xavs and Round 18 when he single handedly willed his team to take it up to SKOB, nonetheless falling short.

11 votes in the remaining 16 games.

No disrespect to Mahon who is a very fine player and a great servant of the Blacks but I am also one of those who thinks the award is pointless and not a true indication of a players worth. To make matters it can only be won by select few players - i.e midfielders.

Last years’ winner (who is great player) was a distant 4th in his own clubs B&F. Blacks held theirs on Friday and it was won easily by Hugh Curnow. I would also suggest that oppo coaches put much more work into Curnow, Dornauf, Steedman and others.

Umpires have enough on their plate. The coaches MVP is a much truer guide to the best and most influential players in my view.

Here here!!!! Couldn't agree more....

What's the deal with the admission prices this weekend??? $17 on Saturday and $20 on Sunday.

Have HQ decided on flying business class to Ireland or something?

Also, considering you don't even get a ticket "stub" and deal with a bloke with a fist full of notes, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the cash goes missing on the gate.

Amateur by name, amateur by nature.

Seriously? $20 to get into a suburban football competition GF? Absolute disgrace, particularly when those putting on the show are getting paid nothing (well the ones wearing the purple jumpers at least ;) ) .

Based on the amount of money the VAFA scalp from clubs each year for ridiculous fines entry should be free.

I will be going to both games on the weekend.....for a total of $37.00!!! It seems pretty steep.
I agree with the "fistful of dollars". And the guy holding them wasnt exactly a CPA.... 5 for you, 1 for me....5 for you, 1 for me..etc.
The Ammos bring nothing but disdain upon themselves....

i have decided to channel canada. we get to see top football all year free so a few dollars at the pointy end does not seem over the top.

what on earth are you suggesting about the afl2s dear james?

I don't think people are adverse to paying an entrance fee NI, but I'm pretty sure it was $12 in the first round of finals ($10 in August) but by the end it's $20....?? How does that work?

How do they justify such a price gouge rise?

Do they expect reserves, clubbies, women, u/19's etc players to pay $20 each to watch their team/clubmates..?

Nothing. Just a poor attempt at humour based on groundless and unsubstantiated rumour and innuendo (the best kind).
