Milne turns 37 before the start of the season and Blake 36. Fisher turns 35 during the season. Not sure having 3 players who are closer to 40 than 30 is wise, no matter what level they might have played at previously.

Reckon Fisher has been linked to about 4 clubs but you would think Beauy would be big chance due to St. Kilda links. Blake would be long odds to play at all.
Just let us know when Tom Humphries has signed for an Eastern club.

I'm hearing mumblings this morning that Fisher is signed at St Kevins and they are talking to Jimmy Bartel as well...
Conspirator...any truth to this?

drop of a cliff PLEASE bernies had plenty of injuries to key players late last year, which ultimately sent them down to B grade. If they win 3 or 4 of the close games they lost, they would still be in the top grade no doubt about that!!

The Snowdogs had distemper...B Grade may provide a cure..

Responded to this one (posted by BS) a few pages back. Is not and never was going anywhere. The boy moving is not the senior B&F winner (Humphrey) but the ressies B&F winner (Haley). Moving to EFL for senior opportunities and to play with his bro.

Are these the same key players who have moved on to the EDFL for some coin in 2017?

You were 3 games and % behind 8th at Rd 12, and won 3/lost 3 of the last 6 rounds to finish......3 games and % behind 8th.

And if my auntie had b@ll$ ......They certainly had some injuries but any way you slice it to go from Premiers one year to relegation the next is dropping off a cliff.

Not sure where your information is coming from but this statement is ridiculously untruthful. I will have another signing to announce in the coming 48 hours and this one is HUGE!!!!

Please!!!!! Slipped out of A Grade due to injuries....what a load of crap. Every team has injuries.....spare us. Truth be known, just not good enough.

Strauss no, Gysberts no, Jamar no, Schulz no, Bail no, Gilham no, Steve Salopek no. Steve Salopek's brother yes.
assuming you are correct and canada is acting the goat that is some achievement by the st kevin's old boys.

having that quality of players with no prior association playing for nothing when they could earn money is some sort of achievement.

other clubs need to see how it is achieved in order to meet the challenge.

apart from old xavarians who have been exceptional at putting successful teams in the field for ages.

Until they can prove that they can win at the highest level using this method I don't think that the other clubs have any challenge that needs meeting.

SKOBS have picked one way to go about trying to win the A grade flag. History shows that it doesn't always go down well long term to take this approach.

Lot of doubt about that.
You finished 5-13
Wesley and SKOB were 8-10 directly above you with far better %. It was a comprehensive drop off the cliff by Snowdogs.
i will cop that on the chin wasn't just injuries leading to their demise, but putting them in the same category as haileybury is a bit off the mark. yes there was a clear difference between the 2015 team and 2016 team but they were still competitive.

No not the players i was talking about. anyway play on posters.....any news out of old melb?

Yes, I was trying to make it bleating obvious that I was goating around.
Excellent work indeed. Always respect 'the network' and it in turn will respect you.

They have two under 19 premiership sides from this year as well so I am not sure they have chosen " one way" to go about it as there is plenty of young talent of their own( if they have to justify that?). All the crap they are copping on here is amazing all because they have recruited better than anyone else?

I like to rank the best "recruiting" at the end of each season.

De La won a heap of Under 19 premierships too.

And which of these new recruits makes way for the U19's to come through? Unless these U19's make it into the senior line-up then it really doesn't matter what their 19's do now does it? Just ask the large number of OX U/19's that move on because of lack of senior level opportunities. As Party Boy just mentioned, DLS have a championship U/19 team every few years, but haven't won the big dance since around 1992 or thereabouts.

They have well and truly chosen 'one way' to go about it. Time will tell if it works or not. History tells us that in the long term it doesn't.

I haven't seen any crap Captain. I love their recruiting drive. Others point out that chasing ex AFL stars has not always worked out well long term. Which is a reasonable comment.
I think they can handle a few mild comments from a few anonymous posters.
Play on....

How are the Premier C preparations coming along at the OGGERY Captain?

Oh hang on.....

Do you think De La could have benefited from a few high profile recruits to top up the school boys to help them win the big dance? As their history of one flag Since 92, which was B section 2003, shows that relying only on old boys hasn't worked for them in recent (13) years. I'm not having a go at them either, respect them immensely - just using them to follow on from your example.

I think it's fair to say there isn't a formula that is guaranteed to bring success. Unless you're wearing the red & black of course....

And as I alluded to previously I'm measuring an actual flag as being successful, not just tenure in A for the argument at hand.

A couple of points to make about this. Nearly all the current DLS senior list came through the 19s with most having played in 19 premiership teams. While it provided plenty of ready-made senior ‘A’ grade footballers, it has also sustained the club in the top grade for a while. But as we know, despite having gone close a few times a senior A’ grade flag has eluded the club for a while now.

However, it needs to be acknowledged that a heap of these promising kids was lured away to play in other leagues due to the obscene money on offer. The inducement of playing in a great comp like Premier VAFA for zero dollars (and paying subs) does not always beat cold hard cash. And once they get a taste for the filthy lucre it is bloody hard to get them back.

Quite a few from these successful teams tried their luck the VFL. Some have come back but plenty haven’t. As always some just never make the transition into senior ranks.

Of course they would have. But when all you can (legally) offer them is miles behind what they can get elsewhere (including other VAFA clubs) then it is near impossible. As such you do what you can within the rules and hope for the best.
