Nice preview Jimmy. Who are the Beaumaris inclusions? IMHO there has been more ‘poor’ than ‘very good’ from the Bellers so far. Good for about 25 minutes last week which just got them over the line. Will be looking for a 4 quarter effort Saturday. Winners this week.

Colls
St Bedes
SKOB
Blues
De La
Crumbles
Blacks
SKOB
OM
DeLa

Melty,
That 4 is a lock. And SKOBAFL in position 1 is also a lock.
Maplebet fancy the purples to finish in 2nd or 3rd...so happy to offer 10/1 for your straight out first 4.
We believe this to be very generous.

A little indulgence if you please. This link to an article on the VAFA site talking about the history of Collegians over the last 125 years, being the only founding member still around.

Interesting to note that Collegians have 20 senior flags, 17 of which are for A section/Premier (the other 3 are all B grade), with 14 times being runner up. That's 31 GF appearances just in Premier over those 125 years. (footnote: next best in terms of Premier flags is OX with 14, then Blacks with 12)

Great read.
As a side note..13 of Xavs 14 flags have been since 1995.

A truly great club. Despite being co-ed and not renowned as a school football powerhouse they have remained a strong VAFA club in the top grades for many years. More importantly they have generally been a club full of decent people and only one of the very few APS clubs in my time who have never felt the need to pull out the “class” card when playing clubs like mine.

Many clubs can claim to be successful but only a few are successful and respected. Collegians are certainly one of those.

Looking at the last 30 years in A (so from 1986 - 2016): -

- OX have played in 18 grand finals for 13 wins
- then Collegians who have played in 12 grand finals for 5 wins (who in that time also went down to C grade and back up again!)
- then it's St Bernards, 5 grand finals for 2 wins
- Ormond, 4 grand finals for 4 wins (the end of their unbelievable run in the late 80's)
- DLS, 4 grand finals for 1 win
- Uni Blues, 3 grand finals for 1 win
- SBMT, 3 grand finals for 1 win

Then it drops down to a whole bunch that have played in 2 or less.

Sorry Canada, but i had to expand it to 30 years because apart from it being a nice round number, we actually get to see some other clubs other than OX in the winners circle!

Any chance our overlords could get the umpire appointments for tomorrow up online .. wanting to see if my lots 19s need goal ajd boundary umps.. 25000 people at HQ and no one can get a simple thing like this online... ttttttt even that strange lot at Vafaua have not got it onlime yet...

I pray for the future of the VAFA

Nice work Penski. But can you go back 40 years? DLS 9 GF’s for 6 flags looks better than 1 from 4!

I guess you can't win A grade flags if you are not in A grade so at least we keep giving ourselves a shot at it.

Got this from VAFA website. Humble pie anyone?

Not sure what the 'humble pie' reference is Rooster. The VAFA (eventually) get the appointments up every week.

Good to see they've got the formatting right this week.

Because the poster unloaded on VAFA HQ about the umpire appointments not being posted when in fact they had been and were available on the VAFA website.

No question that from time to time HQ deserve a clip but on this occasion it was unwarranted.

Oh please!.
Get your hand off it BS

Did you go to the same accounting school as the guy counting the gate in Tasmania today?.

Cheers

What? You left the nail biter at Como Park between Marcellin and your beloved Old Geelong to count heads at the SKOB game?

$$ would have made some great $$ on the bar post game if 2k were there. Handy.
Powerful win. Unfortunately I was unable to attend, but my friends at 96.5 kept me up to date during the day. Maplebet getting extremely nervous about a SKOBAFL vs Wesley GF with SKOBAFL winning.
It will mean we will close the doors.
Big game next week at the Uni Oval.
Blues in a hole. Xavs after that disastrous final term. Interesting.
Wesley vs SKOBAFL will be enormous.
Exciting Year we have here fellas!
