Right... best player to ever play in VAFA footy ??? Nominations please ??
My POV ..
Blood
Ramdo
J.Hope
Good point. Maybe it should be the best ever amateur player, so only considering a player's contribution to football while in the amateurs. So immediately Milne is just a good footballer, but nothing overly spectacular nor worthy of this discussion.Tough question to answer. Because many gun AFL players have played Ammos. Is Milne a better footballer than Bloody? Of course he is. So the way you have worded the question..best player to ever play in VAFA football is probably not the best.
So I will go Bloody anyway. The guy loved GF days. He embraced pressure situations like none before him. His tap work was sublime on the biggest of stages.

Its an unanswerable. Guess the definition of "best" is he who had the greatest impact over an extended period? With the greatest of respect to Big Ivan, no way. Bowen and Ockleshaw would easily rank ahead of him at OX, let alone other clubs - that is something generally agreed upon amongst blokes of that era, including Blood.Right... best player to ever play in VAFA footy ??? Always been told that Jock Nelson's record stands apart.
Leaving unanswerables aside, what is a definite is that if the skobbers had just been able to convince Bloody to play for them, they would have won in 2001. If that did happen, I think this forum would be a very different place.Great call. I think if Elstenwick Park is ever sold, John Bowen probably has claims on the far wing. He quite possibly should own it.

As in Matt Bourke XC 1986?Bugger Bloody, he's a turncoat who had three VAFA clubs, I'll go for Tim Ockleshaw as the best VAFA player I've ever seen, either ex AFL or not, he's head and shoulders above anyone else. Bourke was pretty special too, handy team that foreign legion Xavs outfit.
Remains to be seen as to whether or not this will be case, similar to whether or not you will get your Flag that you definitely can't win the right way and have therefore resorted to the wrong way! The Skob and OM rivalry is actually built upon some degree of mutual respect, between players that is, not supporters. Which is testament to the fact that you have very little idea of what goes on on the field, whilst watching from your puffy jacket and Bigfooty Forum on regular update. You have nothing better to do, which is really quite sad.

I'll happily provide you with some facts: If it was St Bede's, not OM's who went to A Grade two years ago, Matt Thomas would be a in a SKOB jumper as two of his best mates play at SKOB. Pity St Bedes didn't make it.
Melbourne Grammar buys success with their boarders from all over Australia coming to the school on scholarships, so get off your soapbox!
Thirdly, your captain would be the most disliked person in VAFA footy by our players, so stick your mutual respect in your hat.
Wow.
I've never previously heard the terms "preseason game" and "famous win" used in the same sentence.
Wonder why......
Nope - free kick after a goal and all clear is in the centre or where the infringement occurs, whichever is the greater penalty to the offending team. I reckon it is too harsh a rule but it is what is. Umpys had no choice. Player only has himself to blame.
Wasn't there an incident last year at a skobs game where the oppo did something similarly dumb in the dying seconds to give a game away?
I don't know anything about the incident. I was just giving the rule (think it is afl rule 12.6 or thereabouts to go full nerd on you). If what you say is correct then it sounds like an error. A bad one.But the player was sent off in the middle of the ground, so how did the incident occur in the goal square?
