Hi all,
I would like to make an announcement. Somebody, but no way am I going to name them, is very upset that I call the St Kevin's old boys football club $kobAFL. They believe that I am insinuating that the players are paid 'under the table.' I am not suggesting this. They are just a rich club, with a rich network that has been able to travel the path they travel because of these resources. And good on them. My respect for our tireless mods has ensured I post this to stop any additional work that is required of them because of the speaker outers that speak up due to this dastardly $ sign. This sign will disappear from now onwards. Apologies to those who enjoyed a little humour and toughen up to he that cries.
Cheers Canada.

FWIW that's a bullshit apology Canada. Condescending as always. You talk about how great the ammos comp is and then continue to insinuate 1 club is paying by using the $. I don't mind your work but that stuff is just poor form and I'm sure IS offensive to plenty of people who do a lot of work at that club to put it in a position that is a lot better than the past.
Cheers

Agree. Dunno and don't care who Canada is but he can't have been anywhere near old xavs when we worked hard to recruit the likes of Craig Kelly, Jason Taylor and a bunch of other ex-AFL players. They were good players amongst a larger group of home grown players and they played their part in flags. Skobs seem to have pulled in a bunch of good ones in a similar vein. Good luck to them but that seems a small part of their story. That is the game. Lord knows I don't want skobs to win it (sort of but would also be amusing to see the carry on in a skobs flag aftermath) but the snide $ signs can take a hike. Along with self-aggrandising posts. Canada is a long way from being a representative of OX.

Canada you give me the $h!ts regularly buy reading some of your dribble (with all respect) but could you please PM me the coordinates of you famed fishing location. Seems like they aren't just biting but jumping into the boat.

It is clearly evident that Canada loves taking the PiS$ and so long as it annoys people he keeps doing it. The $kob thing is mildly humorous but like any good VAFA person who is involved at a club in some decent capacity will tell you it doesn't happen.

Pages and Pages have been spoken of the jobs that the players have been helped to get. My first post said that said AFL player wanted to come to VAFA footy because the $$$ he will make from a job significantly outweighs the money he would make chasing cash in local comps around the country.
Wake up to yourselves.

CANADA is like Ryan Crowley - everyone hates what he does and wouldn't mind him getting a smack to the mouth, but he is just playing his role.. and a small part of you says in the back of your head.. hey id never say it openly but Id take him at my club...

Play on to you sir

Seems like there are reasonable posters here if there have been complaints as I haven't complained about his dollar sign posts.

I can recount an incident from only yesterday from a Beaumaris supporter complains about Strauss and the money SKOB pay him, plus the amazing job we allegedly got him.

He's heard the VAFA are investigating Strauss, hilarious.....NOT.
Even funnier was Strauss' dad standing next to him handing him his business card to his Telstra shop and saying "come on Monday morning, we will give you a good deal on a phone, James will sign you up as he manages our family business". Then he walked off.

People peddling lies and innuendo have no place in VAFA circles, it's not funny when it involves real people.

I don't say play on, I say piss off.

It's no secret SKOB has tried to duplicate everything OX has done, if you want to be the best then you copy from the best. They are an amazing club who continue to deliver, year after year after year.

Wow! There are some folk here who seem totally bereft of humour.

In the context of the post by Canada, those I know connected to the great St Kevin's College are not the hyper sensitive souls some attribute them to be.

If they were ever to stumble across BF they would see the forum as a banter fest peppered with some waggishness and should they see something they took exception to they'd address it on the board rather than go behind the scenes to do it - I would think.

Canada can be bothersome and disconcerting. He can also be amusing and even informative. I'd guess that could apply to many of us equally. If it's the bothersome and disconcerting bit that gets to you, there's an ignore function that works a treat. Or just scroll through them.

See I beg to differ.. It is people who are either ignorant or want to find excuses.

Beaumaris brought in Milne and Schneider last year both with $0. Schneider was went for a coaching job at the Saints and was told he needed experience before they considered him. Hence the Beaumaris role this year and last year. Milne lives in the area (Chelt to be exact) and plays for the club with Scneider and the St. Kilda alignment with Sandringham is strong at Beauy.

I say this because how can this person honestly say it about Strauss when he has 2 ex afl blokes at his club.

I've been back and read a lot of Canada's posts. He has his tongue firmly in cheek and the fact people get annoyed his his fuel. Why does it matter about what other people think about your's or any football club. Isn't it important that internally you are comfortable and sound. You don't celebrate premiership success with anyone else but yourselves. Why would it matter what Beauy think.

Anyone who cares to know VAFA footy knows these clubs have worked really hard to get players. I am yet to hear a relevant club person at any of the clubs say anything about other clubs paying players. My view has a decent amount of cred. As the AFL clubs say - We don't worry about outside noise.

Play on

Morning everybody!
Another big week of footy coming our way. Make sure you all get fired up for the big heavyweight clashes.
I have a feeling we all might be at the same game. Perhaps I will take the maple leaf off the jacket as a precaution..for what it's worth..

Thanks for taking me for a walk down memory lane Sidey. Craig Kelly...players certainly stood tall when he was around.
Cheers Canada!

I always assumed the $ was a cheeky "they have a lot of coin" could be applied to a few clubs maybe Old Xav$ for example. Frankly hedgeburners seems more offensive but both got a cheeky giggle from me.

Aristocrats with weak chins.

That's exactly what it was!
Toughening up doesn't just apply to the footy field.
I think we can excuse just not getting it. But don't then make a fuss of it. Just makes you look $tupid.

Great win by St Bede's Mentone Tigers on the weekend, great fighting spirit. It would be fair to say not many saw that one coming, it would be brilliant if they can back it up again with another win against the other Uni team in back to back games at the Uni oval.

Must say on paper STBM looked very strong but agree on form this was a surprise result. Blues loaded with talent also but do look to be carrying perhaps a few too many veterans and might lack a yard of pace.

No doubt those bigger bodies will hold them in good stead when the uni main inevitably chops up but they might be found out while the tracks are still good.

Any news on what the radio game is this weekend? Surely the SKOBS & Old Xavs game has to be the pick!

With the evenness of the competition the alarm bells are ringing for a few clubs already. Finalists last year, Uni Blacks are 0/12 across 4 rounds in seniors, reserves and 19s. Didn’t seek that one coming. Aside from last week OMs have been ok but still nothing in the win column and Beaumaris, despite internally being very bullish about their chances this year really need 4 points. Some very big games this week

Trinity v Collegians. The sternest test so far for the Wesley boys. They have done nothing wrong so far and expect they will get the job done again.
Blacks V STBM. Only the home ground advantage sways me towards Blacks over an underrated St Bedes
SKOBs V OX. Have seen both these sides live this year. DLS were poor against OX but still led at ¾ time. Played reasonably well against SKOBs the next week but after ¼ time were completely outclassed. The talent laden SKOBs to just get the points and remain undefeated.
OMs V Blues. Blues full of talent but very inconsistent. OMs have been good at EP despite not yet bagging 34 points and home ground advantage should see them chalk up first win of 2017.
DLS V Beaumaris. Bellers have been both very good and very poor in patches. New look team slowly starting to gel and they should be too strong for the Sharks who are rumoured to have 1 or 2 good inclusions this week.

OT over Coll. But only just....should be a beauty.
Bedes over Blacks. Another close one Bedes full of confidence.
Skobs over OX. OX cant afford to give Skobs a head start or its "good night nurse"..
Blues over OM. OM poor last week. Blues cant afford another loss.
De La over Beauy. At Dairy Bell, thats enough to win it for them...

Nice preview Jimmy. Who are the Beaumaris inclusions? IMHO there has been more ‘poor’ than ‘very good’ from the Bellers so far. Good for about 25 minutes last week which just got them over the line. Will be looking for a 4 quarter effort Saturday. Winners this week.
