Man this is hitting hard, I wanna be able to write something that even comes close to representing how special he was as a cricketer but I dont know how.

How special he was?

This sums it up for me. The great Dennis Keith Lillee once said that when Warnie was bowling he would drop whatever he was doing and just sit down and watch him.

We needed 2 of him so one could bowl from each end.

After watching test cricket religiously since I was a kid in the mid 70s, I've barely watched it since Warnie retire from the test arena. He made it compelling viewing.

My first and last cricket heroes dead within a day of each other. Very sad😭

Bowled Shane.

His last post on instagram was about losing weight and getting healthier...then this happens. what the fu**.

A guy at work 2 weeks ago was talking about how his dad (45 years old) decided to give up drinking and smoking to get fit.

2 weeks after he started he died of a heart attack.

What struck me most was his versatility as a person, and how perfectly he was able to parlay his cricket success into other things.

His poker career after sport made total sense because he bluffed and played other mind games when he bowled, and was also decent with strategy, without needing to become particularly fit.

I'm sure if he kicked on he would have gone in new and interesting directions.

You'd be surprised how often that happens, thats why they always say if your going to do a health kick or weight loss program to do it under medical supervision, especially the first little bit to make sure theres no underlining issues.

Off topic but Adam McDougall made the man shake because his best mate 40 odd at the time died of a heart attack about 2 weeks into a health kick.

Idk his situation but anyone getting into fitness should probably be seeing their doctor to do a few tests, like bp, cholesterol, ECG, and maybe an echocardiogram.

I hope Shane's death generates some awareness about cardiac health and getting check ups even if you're not overweight.

Can't believe it...

Well I can... he lived hard...
I thought he'd be a Keith Richards type

Do everything wrong, live long anyway. Bullet-proof

I couldn't comprehend what I was reading when I woke up

So Shocked and numb. Om Shanti 🙏

Commiserations to Aussies and Cricket fans.

The biggest living legend in Australian sport is no more. We'll never see the likes of him again. Best spin bowler ever, fierce competitor and larger than life even 15 years after retirement. This will take some getting used to.
Yeah, the bolded is the hardest part- both on and off the field. It's rare in sports where someone has a talent that genuinely no-one else can replicate, and that was certainly the case for Warne.

WTF - I've not long woken up, checked Twitter to see what's happened over night and this was the top of my new/unread tweets

I thought Gilly was late to things in regards to Marsh...I scroll down and basically the next 30 odd tweets (other than sponsored posts) are all about Warne

**** - not the news I expected to wake up to this morning

After retirement his presence in Australian cricket seemed to have grown. Nothing ever happened without him tweeting about it or using chance to take a shot at someone - ha.
Safe to say he packed more living into his life than just about anyone, but damn too young..
