Cant believe people bagging Lake, hes been probably our best player this year.Hes coming back from a horror injury run hes getting older and he was up against a fair player.He also doesnt have Williams and Morris helping him give the bloke a break.

Lake is aloud to play one bad game, actually he was average against the Saints the first time too when he bopped that bloke on the nose! To be fair though, Riewoldt loves playing us, he always towels us up.

Can't recall a more insipid two months of football by the club in all my years supporting them (1989-now). We're lacking leadership, have no desperation and are completely and utterly clueless with and without the ball. Teams are belting us with ease and that's what worries me most. Where are our leaders to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and do something about it? Apart from the tears by Crossy yesterday, where is the hurt? Do the players really give a stuff that they are getting flogged week after week? I can't see it.

Do I want more than cliches from McCartney? Yes.

Do I want McCartney to forget about getting hard, unskilled players and actually focus on recruiting skilled players - You bet you're life I do.

Is there a way out? I can't see one and I think we're in for a long time in the wilderness this time around.

All of us (except acker) knew before the game that Lake shouldn't play on Roo and that he would blow him up in no time, but Macca persisted even though there were better options. Lake won't play forward for the same reason. WINS ARE SECONDARY TO THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

Please enlighten me on the better options available?

Nothing wrong with trying the young guys on him couldn't get any worse than the weekend, Fletcher Roberts & Michael Talia I've been told are coming along nicely talia restricted a guy he played on earlier in the year who kicked 5 goals on him to no score on sunday

I thought the purpose of a vent thread was to get out all of the anger regarding the most recent game (no matter how irrational) so it doesn't spill over to the rest of the board. Why is it wrong to say stuff like, 'Lake you lazy prick - WHERE WERE YOU TODAY?' in a vent thread? It's not calling for his head. Of course there are reasoned arguments as to why this or that happened but come on, bad things happen if people can't vent, right?

Makes you wonder, Brian was AA defender when we had a good backline. Were the others really doing all the hard work for Brian? or is Brian slowing down. Either way (or both), with a much weaker backline Lake has been exposed.

He's 2nd overall in the AFL for marks! That's a hard stat to achieve!
