Yeah, I don't think 99% of supporters would have McMahon above McKay on the back of VFL vs AFL form in their careers to date.
I know they wouldn't but I would. Sick of seeing a bloke get paid 800k+ unable to kick a set shot.

I'd trade him for some draft capital or another young KPD and bring in McMahon to fill the gap. Would relieve cap space also.

Collingwood won a premiership with Billy ****ing Frampton. I reckon McMahon is better.

Does bother me they picked Evan’s over McMahon. White I’m happy with, think he could be something

There was a clear need for a backup key forward and they chose an average small forward in Evan’s
It's pretty on-brand for us tbh

U said ud have Jack ahead of McKay. A player just as incapable at set shots. U just need to chill out Pab, McKay is a very good player.

I'm good, just gotta line through McKay. 27 years old and isn't mentally strong enough to kick a drop punt 20m out.

Also SOS has versatility, can be used in the ruck, up the wing, in defence. So yeh ive got him ahead of McKay.

You know McKay kicked 49.21 in 2024 right?

As Arrow says, it’s not McMahon replacing Harry. That would be insane. It’s McMahon offering more than Kemp who has no forward nous at all-based on the last two games. We had to ditch the JSOS experiment three quarters into it because Kemp wasn’t doing enough (yes, I know, H is to blame as well, but Kemp wasn’t holding his own). He was worse on Thursday night.

McMahon ain’t the second, third or fourth coming. But he seems to have improved his second efforts, and he gets into the right spots as a forward. He would be pure depth, but, guess what, we’ve needed that depth in the last two weeks.

I accept though for me some of this is hindsight. I thought Kemp had real potential as a forward.

Maybe look at it from a different angle

Would we have been better off taking a future 2nd from the Saints for Kemp and adding McMahon to the list to play as a 3rd tall option?
I think we need to give Kemp a good number of weeks in the role, including with both Hand C there, see how he goes as the 3rd. I’m optimistic in kemp, I like that he has some pace and can mark it

I'd be more confident in McKay to kick a set shot than Jack if I'm honest

I'm in the why the hell did we pick Evans over McMahon. Just crazy. Symptomatic of our problems, we never just make the obvious, simple decision.
It wreaks of being told to recruit small forwards so they just went and got what was available, which wasn't much.

Agree, judging him on two games where the whole forward line has been dysfunctional, entries putrid and he has had to play second tall vs third on nights where the first tall has been almost non existent seems a little premature at best.

Of course not.

I'd still rather have McMahon on the list than Evans though... people are right on that, it was a stupid move by the club. If either Harry or Charlie miss a month of footy, having Liam as backup would be a lot more handy than not.

Remember this coach even tried to put Young in Harry's role...

Moir isnt fit enough - otherwise on goal sense alone he would be preferred to at least 2 out of the 4 not Charlie not Harry forwards in AFL team - that is totally on him.
He only just beat Motlop in the preseason trials and celebrated as if he’d beaten Cole Hocker FFs. He needs to get serious.

Yeah like so far and away from being the issue. Shut down Sicily well. Did his job first half. Can't defend the coaching at the same time as wanting kemp gone. Kemp's one of the few who had an obvious assignment in the first half and did it well.

Mitchell sent Sicily forward and Weddle back to escape kemp. We didn't respond.

I think Kemp is better suited as a forward rather than a defender, but even when both he and McMahon were playing as forwards at VFL, McMahon looked more at home in the role

I get that we want to give younger players time, but there needs to be a little more realism when assessing our players

It happened with Dow and Stocker, people suggesting they were better than what we had and should be in the side, yet that simply wasn't the case
