Commentators are also saying that Josh Hunt is leading the way in the last, and already has 3 spoils across half-back.
to be fair i heard the comms were calling pods so i dont know how accurate their knowledge is.hunt has been ok without being one our best few players.

I watched the first half before leaving.

Brown was trying to be too cute in the first. Second quarter much better and kicked 3.

Vardy showed a bit. Thought his ruckwork was ok and looked dangerous up forward. Nearly held on to a hanger 20m out in the second quarter, showing the leap people have been talking about on here.

Hunt was a mixed bag. Played loose across half back and pushed up into the midfield a bit. Did a few good things but missed targets and when Raph Clarke is playing the same role a lot better at the other end, a little disappointing for mine.

Christensen did a few nice things, kicked a nice goal from the boundary which Mitch Brown trumped from a little further out about 10 mins later. Motlop very scratchy. No West, D.Simpson, Cowan as far as I could tell.

Mooney In T.Hunt Out would be my changes for the North game from the first half efforts.

We are kicking to the scoring end in the last....

Vardy put on some real bulk

He's developing well, physically, isn't he.
He's a very exciting talent that's always reminded me of a young Corey McKernan.
His development is even more exciting given he's only now really playing the majority of the time as a key forward after being used primarily as a ruckman (who drifted forward when needed) in the TAC Cup.

Simpson copped a corky last week at Torquay and did not return after 1/2? time, but I do not know if Westy or Cowan is injured. Westy did not play last week.

But will he get a game soon?

Left 15 minutes into the last quarter - kids were getting feral!!

Thought that Brown and Vardy really stood out as having real AFL potential ability. Brown just knows where to lead - a smart footballer. Lovely kick of the footy as well - he nailed one in the second quarter from outside 50 on a tight angle that was a beauty. He just lacks a little aggression for a key forward. He looks to me to be more a Miroslav Mecir type than an Andy Roddick using a tennis analogy.

Vardy on the other hand has aggression in spades. Is a great athlete with terrific mobility for a guy his size. Would be an ideal second ruckman in todays game.

Others that took my eye were Guthrie and Christensen at different times. Were a little in and out of the game but showed enough I thought.

Josh Walker took one mark that was quality. They played him back today. Still has a long way to go but is worth perservering with.

There were some disappointments too. To me Gillies has a hell of a long way to go to be a bona fide AFL KPD. Was stitched up in the first quarter particularly. Battled hard after that - I just wonder whether he has the class to make it?

Blake is finished.

Josh Hunt in my mind didn't show enough to warrant a recall. Did some nice things but also turned it over a few times as well.

Was disappointing that a few were missing - Cowan, Burbury were two that I noticed.

The stand outs last week.

And I would personally have Vardy in front of Brown for AFL selection. I think that Vardy has the body that could with stand the rigors of AFL. Brownie needs an uninterrupted summer in the gym to work on his body. But I must say that I have no doubts whatsoever about his talent. Brown's lack of aggression. Could it be due to his injuries? Or do you think that it is part of his makeup?

Could Walker play CHB? Or is he too slow?

I have said much the same numerous times this year. I severely doubt that he can make it. And it is a shame because the Cats need to develop some quality tall defenders. Ben Johnson is another tall that I think is a long way off AFL standard, and given his time at the club, I do not think he will ever achieve it.

Blake is finished.

Looks like he could be behind Vardy very soon. Some may conclude that he already is.

Yep. Make them earn it.

West, Cowan, Burbury. Injured????????????

we lost by 31.brown really really good.guthrie great second half by guthrie and motlop showed something.we had a lot of ball in last qtr but turned it over going into the forwardd half and got killed the other way.vegas kicked a lot of goals out the back.sj andi agreed gillies was very poor today:stuffed up a lot of simple things and needs more intensity.i will do a full report later.
