You could replace George with anyone and it would be an upgrade. He doesn’t hit the scoreboard and the so called pressure is a farce, never lays a tackle. He wouldn’t get a game in any other AFL side.
But our forwards aren’t struggling
Why would you try and upset the current mix, fair enough you want Castagna out of the side but cumbo isn’t the right type of player to replace him with

Just means another body flying for marks, potentially getting in the way of Lynch and Jack and dosent offer anything when the ball hits the deck
Better off looking at Stack, Aarts or Clarke who offer more at ground level and defensively

Yeah I know that’s the thing.. hes neither a true small or a true key forward

But u have to reward form at some point
He’s clearly a natural forward with great goal sense and X-factor

He does lay a big tackle too, just wish he would increase that and his pressure
Just can’t see him breaking into the side unless Jack or Lynch miss games and we want a marking target

Fair enough, I see that too

Just really want him to get a crack and make it cos he’s pretty damn exciting with all the attributes

Him and Stack have so much potential just lacking that extra 10-20% work ethic of the real quality AFL players

If they had Jake Aarts work ethic they would kill it

That’s the most frustrating thing aye
They guys could be easy best 22 and in stacks case one of the marquee players in the comp but just don’t seem to have that drive to push themselves to make it happen

That goal from Cumbers late in the last…running at full tilt into the pocket, then kicks an amazing goal on his left

Cumbers is a quality forwrad…love his pressure and his aggro on the footy

He deserves his chance in front of Castagna. Hopefully he gets it this week.

rcd bit of a corey ellis impersonator at times

Concerning how he had 11 in the first and then had only 9 for the next 3 quarters as it wasn't like the Hawks put any real tagging pressure on him. Can't be the tank as we've seen that he can cover 14+km a game

Some other damning stats beside the free kick count which everyone seems to be blaming for the loss.

Clearances 40-31 despite hitouts being 22-44. Tackles were 48-24 and inside 50s were 62-47.

When you're getting well beaten in clearances, not being defensively accountable by tackling and losing the I50 count by 15, you're always going to be under the pump to hold on in a game where you were leading by 5 goals. The umpires don't lay tackles nor do they win clearances and that is where the Hawks got back into the game and eventually the win.

Lol. They won free kicks by 20 and inside 50’s by 15. What do you reckon 20 free kicks are worth if the are not worth 15 extra inside 50’s?

Rubbish.Would be leading Norfs B & F.

Richmond lost the free kick count by 10 yesterday but won the I50 count by 19. So what's your point.

If they had levelled the free kick count are you saying it would have had no positive effect on the inside 50 count? What a curious reference.
You're the one claiming that the lopsided free kick count led to the Hawks having significant I50 advantage, my point is that the Hawks better play after half time is what led them to having more I50s and this more opportunity to hit the scoreboard.

Just got back after venturing to Box Hill but wish I'd done something else instead. I don't think we played the conditions well at all. It was a 3 to 4 goal wind but the opposition played the ground better in terms of creating space and overall positioning. At 3/4 time I listened to the midfield group address and felt little enthusiasm project through, I would say they honestly seemed spent which is surprising this far into a season.

Highlight was sitting near Riewoldt, Lynch and others and the banter that followed, lowlight was the deplorable umpiring. I wouldn't think anyone played a complete game warranting promotion into the Seniors. I'm concerned that the Reserves midfield which I was hoping would produce some Senior players did not on today's performance.

RT, agree on our draftee 'kids', but Ross and RCD? You are being to generous to say 'hopefully they will learn from this'. They are mature enough. Yes Howe and and Shiels are much older and have more experience at senior level, but the drop off from those two, who are trying to break into the senior team was just more evidence neither is looking like making it imo. Dow I'd say is still earlier with his development, and with the other younger players you can say it's a learning experience for the better.

I guess it's a learning experience for Ross and RCD too.... But I am not sure it was a god one.
Ross and RCD are experienced by means of having been in the system for a number of years, but don't forget they've also missed a large chunk of footy during the last 2 years because of Covid interruptions. In previous seasons we had experience senior players in the squad to help with leadership whereas now that doesn't seem to be the case. Hence saying it's a learning experience for them to be able to stand up when things aren't going their way.

You presented inside 50’s 62-47 as a damning stat “besides the free kick count.” It is a function of the free kick count. There was decision after decision that went against Richmond that should not have. Free kicks or mark decisions etc are not worth nothing or some negligible amount. I woudn’t be surprised if there was a deficit of about 15 decisions against us compared to a fairly umpired match. Given on average a free kick is in the middle of the ground, and on average a free kick in the middle of the ground will result in close to 1 inside 50 per instance, doesn’t it follow this would explain the whole inside 50 deficit? And also given inside 50’s are worth about 1.6 points each on the scoreboard, doesn’t it also follow the insanely lopsided free kick count is worth roughly the whole margin of the loss?

One side playing better first half and worse in the second half doesn’t come into that. The umpiring was disgustingly biased and there is no way around that in my mind. And it robed Richmond of a chance to compete in a game that might have otherwise been 50-50.

2 mins in the last rcd made a contest at chf.
No 2nd effort oppo runs away with it.
Has and never will have a tank thats required at afl level.

Both were completely missing for a whole half of football at VFL level. I guess that's a learning experience. You make it sound like they were in their homes chilling for 2 years. Yes they didn't have the opportunity to play a lot, but both have have been training and have played AFL games this year. So they 'go back' to the lower level and dish that up. The top is off my marker again!
