VFL Vs Box Hill

Good game by Geelong, it was just Box Hill couldn't take advantage much at all, they had their fair share of shots in the first half, but we came out to play in the second.

Byrnes played quite well, i think Kingsley got 4 goals, N.Ablett 3 goals.....Varcoe played well, did nothing wrong as in everytime he got the ball something good happened, a very good footballer and has speed to burn.

N.Ablett was held very well by Dawson i think it was, he got two free kick goals (HTB and push).......then Tudor put him up the ground in the center, played quite well there, took a few good grabs.

Playfair did well, a bit lost at the half forward line, not much support at times, i thought S.Johnson did very well, Riccardi did well, Callan, Blake, good performance all round....good crowd too.

I sat in front of Mackie....interesting convos.

Good to see NA kick a few goals, aswell as Byrnes (but which one was it? We have three in the VFL dont we?).
Also good to see SJ kick a few, but who knows, he could have been very lazy.
Good to see Gardiner didnt kick many, although Kingsley did. Bomber, dont you DARE drop Mackie for Kent.

Kelly and Callan were in our best which is good to see, but what does Callan have to do to get a regular gig?

Brett was the quickest of us all. Tad to slow YOTC, but your dancing Milk makes up for it!

I tried to post them but BigFooty was like "no there are too many people posting in this thread at the same time". Good stuff, everyone! =)

Agree with the sentiments, but watching the Carlton game yesterday I think I'd lean towards David Johnson over Callan - at the moment anyway. He has 2 attributes not all our defenders boast - he's a strong overhead mark and an accurate shot for goal.

I'm not saying Callan's no good or anything because I love his desperation, but for me Johnson shades him at present. Just.

I tell you Kent probably will be recalled....although he doesn't deserve to be.

Playfair looked to be in discomfort for a bit there, his left calf i think it was.

I think Kelly will go up, S.Johnson (maybe)...

I wonder if Callan would get a regular gig anywhere else, as he is fighting out for 2 small defender spots with Hunt, DJ, Wojja and then earier on in the year with Slade.

I think Kelly should stay in the magoos for now... make him really earn his spot. Look what it did for Bartel a couple of years back.
13 brownlow votes in something like 9 games wasnt it in the 2nd half of the year?!?

It sounds like there were a few players that could come back into the AFL, but I dont reckon anybody who played yesterday should be dropped. Did Scarlett get injured because he didn't play in the last quarter?

I think so. Teams with less experience he'd walk into. It's interesting with who you've listed because apart from Slade, there really is not much between any of them. Hunt obviously has strength and the best disposal, Wocjinski extra speed, but it's a pretty even quartet. I guess the strength of a list is having ready made replacements for every position.

I agree. Or drop him back instantly if he doesn't perform again.

He needs to play every game like they are finals, his only decent games in the past year or so were finals.
