Whether other teams should have to bear some travel burden to narrow the gap between West Coast's travel absolutely does have an impact on West Coast.

There is no additional travel burden placed on WC in a game in Tassie v Melbourne.

Regardless, travel aint VICBias. WC travel way more than SA teams.

They should do a "gather round" in WA instead of SA if trying to even out the WA travel burden.

If we make a grand final on the home ground of our opponents, them having travelled less and being less fatigued is another advantage on the day.

Do people really think a few extra flights back in April has any impact in September?

If you get top2, you get a month at home minimum prior to the GF.

In 2015, WC left WA just once after August 3rd. And they had a full month sitting in Perth prior to the GF. In the same period Hawthorn had 4 trips (3 to WA)...it wasnt WC with any potential travel fatigue.

Similar in 2016, it was the Dogs who were travelling more during finals.

Surely you dont really think "fatigue" is an issue if players spend a month without travel prior to a GF?

after the Adam goodes situation how many games in a row did you play Sydney in Sydney? thats the kinda shit im talking about. no club should be playing another club up to 10+ times in a row at their home ground because of any reason.

What does Goodes have to do with anything?

Collingwood have played an away game in Sydney every year since 2003 with the exception of COVID 2020 and 2023.

AFL has a strategic goal to grow the game in NSW, they had a standalone Sydney v Pies fixture in the mid-season bye for almost a decade. They use Collingwood to create an event in Sydney.

Again nothing to do with VICBias, but everything to do with strategic aim to grow the game in Sydney...anybody surprised that the Swans have been in the most GFs of any club in 21st century?

I'm agreeing with you with Darwin, Tassie, Ballarat, Canberra. If they are disadvantages then it's unfair due to increased rotation for other clubs. Darwin with climate definitely will be a disadvantage - GC will be invincible there.

I just don't agree with KP - Cats are the only team who lose out with their home games against us getting fixtured at the G - not other clubs.

I think even with our ground it can still be a trickle down effect though. Pies are advantaged by playing us at the MCG instead of Geelong, not just because it's your ground but because you can instead play a Docklands game against a team like North or West Coast instead that you should beat anywhere. Pies vs Geelong at MCG and North/Eagles at Docklands or Geelong at KP and North/Eagles at the MCG? Pies would rather the former*.

Then Geelong have the 'home' MCG disadvantage but otherwise get advantaged by playing more H&A games at the MCG instead of Docklands, we still have to play all the Docklands teams somewhere though and it ends up being at our ground because with ~seven road trips and ~five MCG games there's only room for one game at Docklands.

And so it's the Saints/Dogs/North/Dees who seem to end up playing us at our ground a lot more than they do theirs.

*For now anyway, maybe North are constantly on top in ten years and we're the ones anchored to the bottom of the ladder, in which case the scenarios would be reversed.
