Is Dumont damaging enough ? Getting plenty of the ball, mostly likely keeping LDU & Ahern out of the side. I just think we need better ball users going forward. I guess it’s up to those guys to make a statement in the VFL

BINGO

Thomas very good. Larkey played well. Good effort Taylor on debut.

At the ground, I thought Durds was below whats required. He had the chance to kill a few balls as 3rd man up and wasn’t strong. Missed Thompson... EVW is also one we forget who would be smarter in those situations too.
Durdin is SOFT

Yeah, but if he’d followed Parfitt, the ball would have gone to Bliczavs and we would have been opened up and you’d, probably, be on BBB ‘s back for that now. That’s not why we lost. We lost because we didn’t kick straight and they did.

No, i wouldn't, because the ball would've went backwards to Bliczavs in a neutral position who would have had to look for shor options, buying us time to set up properly. Instead the ball was deep inside 50 three seconds later. If you don't think getting shit like this right doesn't have an impact on results, im not sure what to tell you.

Scott: The finishing was probably the difference on the surface - it was a very even game in most areas.

Scott: They were able to respond to every challenge we issued. They've got some quality, class ball users.

Scott: They nutted us around the clearances for periods of the game and were able to score as a result.

Scott: Right at the moment we're trying to develop some players who we think are going to be really classy - Taylor came in and we were really excited to draft him. We think we'll be able to develop players who have that finishing polish Geelong has at moment.

Ablett is a protected species. The media just jerk him off like even if he knocked someone out it would be just a fine

Oh and our disposal sometimes is absolutely awful

Agree on both counts. But if Ablett was on our side today we win comfortably.

Scott: The rule changes are good (6-6-6). They are better for the game. When games close at the end, it's still a raffle with teams able to go forward and potentially score.

Scott: The big improvement in our forward structure is we look more potent with Larkey there, Zurhaar got on scoreboard last week and we've got Garner back in side. As a result of that, Browny is kicking more goals.

Scott: The message is very similar to last week - we are pleased with the way we went about it today - but we can't be satisfied with where we are at.

Scott: As a foundation I think if we can produce that type of effort and we played that style earlier in the year we'd be in a better position. The reality is, we are where we are.

If anyone wanted to show a game that should of been won but wasn't, show this one. This should have been a win for Norths. That is definitely one that got away from us.

I also don't know what our coaches are teaching our players but can they stop teaching them to run to the opposition player when he has the ball when one of your teammates is already going to him. FFS how many times have we seen three of our players run to the opposition player with the ball and all he has to do is handball it out and they are running away with two free men. its like watching austkick.

Also to Paul Roos stating that GAJ was the best he has even seen, give me a break you flog. I would love for you to have a choice of picking any player first in your team and then you go pick GAJ. You would look like and even bigger flog than you are right now, if that is possible. He is a great player but the best ever he is not.

Higgins just misses too many goals - especially at critical times. What was it 3 today? And then Ablett the little sniper puts it out of reach.

For such a high priced recruit Polec doesn't do enough. Some of the senior guys (Cunners) must wonder why they are doing all the heavy lifting.

Otherwise - no Thommo, Williams, Daw, Jacobs, Lmac (would have done 100% better job than Turner), EVW, and a number of new kids in the side I think you have to take some positives from today.

Scott: Ablett's a ball player and he's proven that over 300+ games. Kayne Turner did a really good job, and Ablett still kicked four and was arguably the difference.

Scott: Kayne is tenacious and competitive, and I thought he did a really good job back there on a superstar player.

Scott: With experienced players like Thompson I like to give them right up until last minute, but he just wasn't quite right. You'd anticipate he'll be right for next week.

Agree with everything except the last point. There is zero evidence of any young midfielder developing into being classy at North in more than 10 years. What's going to change?

that averages out to 5 handballs extra a quarter - i wouldnt say thats handball happy

Our total number of handballs this season is 98 more than the next team - we are very clearly first for total amount of handballs. Conversely we are 14th for total kicks per game.

If that isn’t handball happy then I don’t know what is

Well we lost another game. Brad's H&A coaching record now sits at 50%, overall 50.50%.

His world does seem to be close to crashing down around his ears. Hope we continue to play young guys as I don't see any point in Thommo coming back into a side that is not playing finals.

Turner is surely done, isn't good enough to fill spots 20,21 & 22 on any AFL list. No shame in that of course, hope to see Ahern, Murphy, LDU, Scott and Hayden all getting games for the rest of the season.

The standard of footy at the elite level is so poor that kids can have a huge impact, winning now is counterproductive. I didn't make the rules, but another mid-table finish would be a disaster.

Not much else to do but watch the youngsters who are going well.

Higgins is a liability by foot. I don’t know what we do with him. Killing us having someone get it 30 times but turn it over repeatedly.
Cunnington is gonna be cooked by the time he is 30 if he keeps carrying us like this.
Polec is soft. I know he’s a wingmen but when it’s your turn to go you go.
Pittard average. Almost like his thumbs were sore as he didn’t take anything clean today.
Atley fast becomming one of our best under these new rules. He needs do play inside the square. Why doesn’t Brad do this??
Thomas will be our best ball user for the next decade. Never makes the wrong choice.
Mason Wood losing that one on one contest, then butchering the handball, then missing the shot on goal. I don’t believe he will be anything other than average to good. Pass.
Browns lack of physicality is why we need Larkey to come on. Just doesn’t have the aggression or presence to put a knee in the back or use his frame to hurt defenders. Also as frustrating as it is at how we move the footy he needs to get on his bike more.

If any other Top 10 AFL coach was in charge today we win by 6 goals.

OK, I’ll agree with you there that on one occasion our full forward giraffe didn’t chase after their small mid and decided to cover a big guy instead and it didn’t turn out well.

Geelong in third gear most of the day. Any time we made a run they kicked it up a gear and we couldn't touch them.

Ziebell on the ball while LDU and Ahern play twos and we're 2-6 hurts my soul.

Tim Kelly is magnificent.
Couldn't agree more with this - just makes no sense at all. Well it does cos of the bloke coaching us

I'm beyond putting up with this guy now, it may not be fair but that's where I'm at.

Apparently we look more potent with an actual other tall forward in the forward line. Who would have thought?
