It must be said, Scott Selwood looks like a gun...In the second quarter he was the play maker for perth. Oh and congratulation 2 Dean white for playing with perth. I went to school wid him :)

None of our rookies will be promoted who arnt in our best 22. I think Arrowsmith is gonna get cut. Doesnt work hard enough to make up for his serious lack of pace. His disposal isnt crisp enough and he cant mark the ball all that well. A bit of a mistake but hes only on a one year deal

Davis + Wilkes promoted. Sullivan Wilson and Stevenson should be retained.

I heard that Spangher has hurt his shoulder AGAIN. Having scans over the next day or two but it sounds like hes out for atleast a few weeks if not the season. Hurt it in a tackle in the final quarter

Geez, Yarran looks a player.

He most certainly is BM. Looks like he belongs on that football field. Did you see him yesterday?

I agree with wce all da way's bolded comment below. Arrowsmith has worked exceptionally hard defensively form the past couple of games I have seen of his at Peel. It was a weakness but West Coast would have known that prior to the draft, so it's something they are prepared to work with him on and he's shown an appetite to work.

Stevenson has done SFA in the WAFL compared to Arrowsmith. I think they're all in it for the long haul.

Spangher news is shocking.

I'm excited by Notte.

You're not alone mitch, but Yarran excites me as much (OK, maybe more!).

The WAFL wrap from the eagles site.

Spangher was playing well until injured, Hansen had a blistering final term at Claremont.

WAFL wrap: Round 12

A number of senior West Coast Eagles players pressed for selection with strong contributions in the WAFL at the weekend.

Tall utility player Jaymie Graham, key forward Ashley Hansen, full-forward Ben McKinley and small forward Steven Armstrong were all under notice with eye-catching performances for their respective clubs.

Whether it will be enough to earn a chance against Geelong at Subiaco Oval on Saturday night is now in the hands of the match committee.

Subiaco v East Fremantle

Matt Spangher
Matt played full-back and lined up on the dangerous Brad Smith. His body on body work in a marking contest with Smith was very good and his closing speed saw him apply several very good spoils. Subiaco enjoyed midfield dominance, but Matt kept Smith to two goals to half time and no possessions in the second quarter. He also applied some good tackles. Unfortunately Matt injured his shoulder in a contest early in the third quarter.

Perth v East Perth

Steve Armstrong
Steve accumulated a lot of positions through hard run and pushing into space. But it was his ball use that was the key to his game. He kicked well and finished the game with three goals. He worked hard to run deep in defence to help his defenders.

Scott Selwood
Scotty started the game on a half-forward flank and wing rotation and was very good. He had 18 possessions in the first half and used the ball very effectively. Unfortunately Scott was knocked out with a hip and shoulder early in the third quarter.

Will Sullivan
Will rucked and rotated through full-forward this week. He covered the ground well and began running his angles well to receive the ball. Will kicked a very good goal on the run and generally played well.

Ben McKinley
Ben played at full-forward for the majority of the game and took several strong marks. He led strongly and was involved in the play up on a wing. By using multiple leads and looking to readjust his positioning when not used, Ben was able to lose his opponent on a number of occasions and also helped set up two other goals.

Claremont v Swan Districts

Eric Mackenzie
Eric played full-back and centre half-back on Ash Hansen until he left the ground 10 minutes prior to the end. He had a very good dual with Ash, there was long periods in first half, especially in the first quarter, when they were not involved in play. Eric was always looking to run up the ground to create, but found Ash coming with him. He took some strong marks and had some very good second efforts to clear the ball. In the conditions it was a good effort.

Lewis Stevenson
Worked hard through the midfield and produced a solid performance.

Ashley Hansen
Ashley started the game at full-forward and was in the right position on a number of occasions but was not used. Although he dropped a couple of marks in the difficult conditions he continued to work his way into the game. His last quarter saw him play from centre half-forward and pushed up into the midfield where he had a big impact on the game. Ash collected 12 possessions in the last quarter.

Tony Notte
Tony started on the interchange bench and came on deep in the forward line. Although he kicked a good goal early Tony struggled to have a big impact on the game. This saw him moved to a half-forward flank and wing where he was able to use his skills and smarts to find space and set up play. Tony laid several strong tackles and was also very clean below his knees.

Peel v South Fremantle

Jaymie Graham
In first half Jaymie played in the ruck opposed to Zac Beeck and Macdonald. He also played full-forward on Battye and finished at full-back on Buzan. He started the third quarter on Buzan and midway through the quarter was moved into the ruck for the balance of the game. Whilst Jaymie was beaten at centre bounce downs, he made a significant contribution around the ground and in a desperate last quarter did an excellent job.

Callum Wilson
Callum played the first half on Battye and Boone, mainly at full-forward and in the second half on McLeod at centre half-forward. In the first and third quarters Callum had limited opportunities but in the second and final terms, he made the most of his chances kicking two goals in each of those quarters. In the last term Callum took two strong marks, one in a contested pack situation and goaled. Callum kicked four goals, which was a good return for his opportunities.

Ashley Arrowsmith
Ashley played at half-forward for the majority of the game opposed to Head, with a short run in midfield during the first quarter. Ash struggled to get into the game in the first quarter but after that he became more involved. He worked hard and on a number of occasions had made good position but was not used. He kicked two good goals and his tackling was very good.
