How many tanks does Ruissia have? I know they had more than any other country before the war. I think I heard 12,000 from somewhere, but a good portion of them are not in working condition.
Most commentators I've listened to have come to the conclusion they don't know.

They are pulling them from storage and museums at this stage and also building new ones.

Enough for a while it seems

Not really surprising based on their history. Outside of China I can't think of a place that's suffered so many loses (of people) in wars. Civilians and army

And I think the Chinese ones were mostly internal fighting
Russian leaders (whatever title they’re given at the time, though it’s pretty much always a Tsar in some shape or form), have never cared about civilian deaths.

Putin is no doubt marking time, wishing for (and trying to abet) a Trump/Republican victory in a years time. Pity the poor Ukrainians if that eventuates.

Record number of troops

55 tanks. For reference Australia only has 59.
I think Australia rightly focuses on the Navy. It's logical because we are an Island nation and if we are attacked it would have to be sea and air.

Russia doesn't have many avenues with the sea (Just the Black sea and the Arctic which can't be used for half the year due to freezing). They are mostly land based so they will naturally gravitate to things like tanks.

Oh of course. Air force and navy should absolutely be our priorities. Stopping anyone from ever landing and good AA.

But it helps put the number into perspective of how many 55 tanks really is

Australia current has 450 IFV

The economist reckons they are making about 800 tanks a year
That's impressive if true.

800 tanks per year is only about 15 per week. Pissy amount to what the great Soviet Onion could produce - 64,000 plus T34 over the six years of WWII. That's only one type, too.

Bit more than the 22 the USA will make. The top of the range Russians ones look pretty dope as well.

"The U.S. Army plans to produce 22 tanks in FY23, 80 fewer than previously planned"

The top of the range ones are a mirage though.

The US does have a fleet of over 4000 Abrams and are currently reevaluating what a modern tank is. I don't think the remainder of the Russian tank force would cause the US to sweat. Most of those 800 tanks coming off Russian production lines wont be the newest or best, they will be the ones they can produce in volume with washing machine parts etc. They have lost more than 2400 main battle tanks during the invasion, 3 years production at current rates if there are no further loses. There will be further loses, probably thousands of them, so I don't see them getting ahead. It will take many years for them to replace their loses of material and it's impossible for them to replace their human loses.

Amir Weitmann, member of Israel's ruling Likud Party threatens Russia on RT "After we win this war...we will make sure that Ukraine wins...Russia will pay the price..."

So it seems this uneasy relationship Israel and Russia have had up until now due to their dealings in Syria is taking a bit of a turn.....

Have they burnt through their stores of shitty soviet era stuff yet? Trying to find a reasonably reliable assessment of their equipment reserves is difficult!

Nah they have a heap of crappy Soviet stuff, but that crappy Soviet stuff they are using in battle now is getting older and older. Just the other day in Avdiivka, the UAF destroyed the first BTR-50 Armoured Personnel Carrier this war, which is a relic from the 1950's with thin armour that is useless. Also plenty of examples of T-62 and T-64 tanks from the 60's being used in combat.

How many tanks does Ruissia have? I know they had more than any other country before the war. I think I heard 12,000 from somewhere, but a good portion of them are not in working condition.

The thing is no one really knows, even Russia themselves wouldn't because what they had on paper would not match exactly what they physically had due to the corruption surrounding military equipment.

The best estimate at the start of the war was something like 3,000 operational with the remaining in storage. Even if the figure was a total of 12,000 pre-war meaning there were 9,000 in storage, thousands of those in storage would be useless because they were in open air environments and are nothing but rust buckets now.

What is known is that the number of 3,000 operational they had has basically been voided because they have lost approximately that amount (visually confirmed) so far, meaning they have had to tap into their reserves and this is evidence by the amount of old crappy Soviet stuff you see on the battlefield.

Do they still have a lot? Yes, but I doubt it is as much as people would think.

False. You really need to read the article in more depth rather than just grabbing the mouthpiece bits.

Russia only has one tank producing factory which makes 20 tanks a month (240 a year). They are also refurbishing another 8 old tanks from the 1970's era per month. Considering they are losing 150/month, that is nowhere near what they need.

What the Economist does say is that Russia have announced they will build another 2 plants which will ramp up production to 90 tanks per month. However just because they mentioned it doesn't mean it will come to fruition and if it does, a plant like that doesn't just pop up overnight, it takes ages to get it going and that is without sanctions affecting procuring all the tooling/machines that is necessary.

This number is just incredible.

The fact the POS Putin can have this many of his own and the number of Ukrainains (mostly civilians) killed with absolutely no ramifications is an international disgrace

Watching the videos going around, Avdiivka has been a total sh!tshow and bloodbath for the orcs. According to this UAF soldier, those numbers wouldn't be too far off the mark. For reference in the failed Bilohorivka river crossing, the orcs lost approximately 80 vehicles and 1000 men.

The Taiping Rebellion isn't obviously as widely known by people being in the 1800s, but the estimated casualties in that conflict are staggering.
Yep. The exact death toll from it is unknown, but some estimates have only WW2 as having are greater death toll.

All because an unsuccessful wannabee scholar who failed the Chinese civil examinations multiple times read the Bible and began to claim he was the brother of Jesus sent by Heaven to create a Heavenly Kingdom in China. Result: 20–30 million+ deaths .

Insane numbers

I was referring more to the ancient history stuff and The Qing Dynasty Conquest Of The Ming Dynasty. Etc.

But yeah 20-30m in the Taiping Rebellion is unfathomable... Wow

In regards to the previous point it was always going to be challenging for Russians to place high value on the individualism of human life while defeating the golden horde. Third Reich. The French empire etc.

Even now, they are facing the biggest army in Europe who has become modernized & who were pretty well dug in. Plus have some powerful friends.

Some talk the Avdeevka encirclement has increased even with the Russian losses.

Avdeevka Coke Chemical Plant doesn't look a fun area to be.

I was surprised to learn so many civilians still in the city.

God bless us all.

What an angel, risking her safety to save lives. Every time a russian enlistment office is forced to pause its genocide, and evey time an employee at the same is euthenised, it equates to civlians saved in Ukraine. I hope there can be many more "terrorists" following just as selflessly. Unfortunately, reportedly in custody, Alena is probably now being "brateevoed".

A student from Omsk, suspected in the case of arson of the Primorye military registration and enlistment office, was added to the register of terrorists

24-year-old Alena Katorzhnykh from Omsk was included in the Rosfinmonitoring list, and Siberia.Realities drew attention. At the end of September, Katorzhnykh was detained in the courtyard of a house on suspicion of setting fire to a military registration and enlistment office in Vladivostok.

As the SHOT telegram channel wrote, two unknown men asked the girl to film how they set fire to the military registration and enlistment office. One of them is presented as “Primorye businessman Manap” - Rosfinmonitoring’s register of terrorists includes 33-year-old Manap Gulimzarov from Vladivostok.

Before Katorzhnykh’s arrest, she studied at the Omsk technical school, after which she transferred to the Lesozavodsky Industrial College. In 2022, the student won the regional championship in professional skills among people with disabilities and people with disabilities “Abilimpix” in the specialty “cooking”.

This is the true face of patriotism. This is someone who loves their country.

Just wish the new missiles had arrived sooner.

From what one youtuber has said (jake Broe) as new ones are made, the US will send the older ones.

Hopefully it's lots and lots and lots.
It doesn't even have to be lots. They had to pull aircraft further away already. Just the threat of them causes problems.
